Anesthesia and teeth removal Hi, I went to the vet for a regular check up and I mentioned to the vet that my baby has double teeth. He told me that he needs to have them remove because in the long run it will cause my baby lots of health problems. My problem is that they need to put Achilles to sleep and I'm very worry because I have read that dogs have die do to the anesthesia. Can anyone who has gone thru this help me. Thank you |

How old is he and has he been neutered yet? If not, the teeth can be taken care of during the neutering. Sissy had a few baby teeth removed when she was spayed. |

Similar situation Both of my yorkies, Bojangles and Juliet, need to get their teeth pulled and my vet said that it required putting them to sleep. I feel the same way about this that you do. I asked the vet if there are any other options and he said that he could give them valium but it might be painful to them during the process cause the numbing solution doesnt numb all pain(just like when we have to go to the dentist) I hope this helps. I have been letting my yorkies chew on really hard bones and even cow hides(stinky!!), in order for most of the teeth to come out on their own. I know I will have to eventually take then to the vet cause bacteria does build up and an awful breath along with it |
