Grass Allergies? I think I have narrowed Trixies allergies down to 'grass'. Every time the allergy reports shows high for grass, she gets itchier and parts of her skin get redder. And the vet diagnosed her with sebboreah (overproduction of oil in the skin), which I found out could be caused by too much scratching. Is anybody else dealing with grass allergies in their yorkie? And is there something special you are doing to relief the itchyness and skin problems? I've heard foods that are high in omega-3 could work, combined with a food supplement and good shampoo. Any suggestions for those? |

My Trixie also has allergies towards grass. She will start sneezing and she will get a rash. I use special shampoo, she gets bewers yeast and her dog food has omega 3 in it. Nonetheless, not of that works. The only thing I have found was to give her benadryl before I took her outside, the vet also gave me some pills for her allergies but she can't be on them very long because they have steroids in them, but they do help. Oh and my vet also gave me some pills that are good for her and she can take them for a long time and they really help, but they are expensive. They are called dermacaps, the extra strength kind. |
I had Trixie on children's benedryl for a while as well, but she HATED it. I'd spray it in her mouth with a syringe, but she'd start foaming and spitting it out. And honestly it didn't help much. How long does the allergy season last? We've been dealing with it for a few months now. |
