Flea meds ? Which is better Frontline or Advantage? |
I have heard from SERVERL SEVERAL people on YT that Advantage doesn't work; although I am sure it works for some people. I personally use Frontline for fleas and ticks in combination with Heartguard for heartworms. The Heatguard tastes like a treat so I have no trouble getting mine to eat it. |
I always used Advantage and never had problems . |
i recommend frontline as well. |
I think it is just a matter of preference. Use one of them and if you don't like it or it doesn't work for you, then try the other one. |
I live in a wooded area. Lot's of fleas and especially ticks. Frontline the only thing that has worked for me. |
I have used frontline and liked it. I was just curious because I have seen that a lot of people use advantage. I just wanted to make sure the frontline was ok. Thanks:) |
I use advantage and it works great for us. I used frontline before and did not like it at all. I think it is all a matter of preference. |
i use to use frontline but zac started to have an reaction to it he started seeing things and had blisters all over his belly bless him so i had to keep bathing him over about 5 days untill it had worn off, the vet told me to use advantage from now on. |
k9 advantix for us because it repels mosquitos. |
If you're needing flea AND tick coverage then I recommend Frontline Plus. If you only need flea protection then Advantage is ok. I had Reuger on Advantage when I went to my aunt's house this spring. By the time I got home Reuger was covered (and I mean COVERED) in ticks. When I checked on the Advantage it didn't say anything about ticks so I switched to Frontline Plus. It doesn't keep ticks from attaching but it kills them soon after they're attached. I think that either one are ok to use it just depends on what you need. BTW I've never had any problems with fleas with either one of these products. |
I use advantage and never had any problems. |
I recommened Frontline plus. It repells fleas and ticks. I have never used any other product but for sure Frontline plus works. |
Buying Frontline plus and heartguard Does anyone know if frontlineplus and heartguard can be purchased at a store? I have checked online and do not see it listed anywhere but from mail order companies. I have always purchased it from my vet and they have gone crazy with pricing there and just wanted to know if anyone knows of a pet store that sells it or if it is only available from a vet or mail order? Thanks for the information. |
I don't know about the Frontline Plus but in Georgia Heartguard can only be purchased at a vets office. Not sure about the other states! |
I have always used frontline. Vet recommended it |
You can get frontline at most petstores such as Petco and Pet Supplies Plus. The heart guard or any other heart worm medicine is sold only through your vet or you can get it online but you have to have a prescription for it. |
We had to switch from Frontline Plus because my bulldog developed a nasty tumor-looking thing between her shoulder blades, right where I applied the Frontline. Our vet did a biopsy and didn't really know what the heck caused it -- it was an inflamed lump. I mentioned that it was the place I applied Frontline and asked she said she didn't think that would cause it. I just thought it was too much of a coincidence. I stopped the Frontline, switched to K-9 Advantix, and the lump went away completely! I'm very pleased with Advantix. I buy mine from the Drs. Foster and Smith website. Julie |
I use K9 Advantix since the mosquitoes are horrible here. |
My vet put Piccolo on Revolution. It protects for everything but it's $ 20.00 a dose and I need 6 for him. Then I found this site :http://www.pets-megastore.com.au and bought a packet of 3 for $30.00. They sell all kind of flea, ticks, heartworm etc...products. And their prices are very good. |
i use frontline on my other yorkies and i got it from ebay. |
I have used frontline plus and have not been disappointed.Cathy and Yoshi:thumbup: |
I've never tried Frontline but I have heard of it. I use Advantage since my vet recommended it but yes, the prices are a bit high at the vet. |
I found a bunch of flea/tick medicines at http://www.dog.com/flea.asp?Category=Flea%20%26%20Tick You can get 3 months of Frontline for $33.98. I haven't tried ordering it from them before, but let me know if you try it. |
I am noticing Walmart carrying more and more Frontline type generic topicals at a much reduced price then the Vet. Anyone tested any of these out? Also, if anyone orders the meds online, how do you go about getting a prescription from your Vet? I noticed many vets where I live are big time sales people. |
