Humping? Pancake is almost 6 months old and has not been spayed yet. About a month ago she started humping my leg, but I wasn't convinced it was humping. She wrapper her front paws around my leg and did the humping motion, but didn't actually touch my leg with her lower area... the only thing touching me is her paws. She has continued to it ever since, almost every day. I know that she considers my bf as top dog, and she used to consider me below her (she would growl at me and try to bite me  ). But she hasn't been growling as much and no biting, could this be a power struggle issue? She also does the same thing to my sister when she comes to visit. If she doesn't actually touch you, is it humping? Do females hump for the same reasons males do? Because if she isn't touching me with her lower area, how could it be pleasurable for her?If this isn't why Pancake is doing it, what other reasons could there be? Thank you for any help, I haven't found other posts like this, because none of them mention the no touching thing! Thanks!!! |

Good advice. I totally agree with you Kellie. |
thanks, that is what I have been doing, although I still feel bad for doing it. Sometimes I get the feeling she wants to play, because I find she does it most when I turn my back on her for a while, or am not paying any attention to her. Thanks for the help! |
OMG, I was just going to start a thread about the humping issue. Dezi is 6 1/2 months old and she got spayed two weeks ago and yesterday I was playing with her and she did the same thing. She wrapped her paws around my arm and started the humping motion with touching my arm. I told her no and moved away from her. I notice today she was playing with one of her toys (stuffed animal) and she did the same thing. I told her to stop and took it away from her. I hope she stops. Any other suggestions? |
It's called Instincts. Yes, we could chalk it up to dominance but after they're spayed it's mainly due to instincts. Yes you must establish yourself as the alpha but you also need to realize that that won't permanently remove the habit, |

Good advice, but I think you need to go farther than that and let her know that you are above her. Make her do something like sit befoe giving her food. Always eat before she gets to eat. Block her path and don't let her past you until you say she can pass, never let her go through a door before you. She may not like it at first, but the sad truth is that she does not respect you, and she won't until you insist on it. |
This is why I love YT. All of my concerns and questions are always answered. Thanks for the advice. |
