How often and how much do you feed your yorkie? I was just wondering how often and how much everyone feeds their yorkie Tila is ALWAYS starving, whenever I feed her I have to hold her back and just let her take little bights because she ATTACKS it! So if you could let me know the age and weight of your yorkie and how much (and WHAT) you feed them, it would be SO appreciated! I feel like she always gains weight if I feed her more one day but she's always hungry! |
Georgie just turned a year old and he weighs 3 1/2lbs. I feed him twice a day his kibble, boiled chicken and sometimes I mix in about 1/4 tsp. of cottage cheese or nonfat yogurt. He gets in total about 1/4-1/3 cup of food per day. However, throughout the day I leave dry food out for him and he goes and knibbles occasionally. |
if I left dry food out she'd just eat it all 'til it was gone!! |
What type of food are you feeding her? I put out between 1/8 and 1/4 cup of food in the morning. If/When she finishes that I'll put out more around lunch or early afternoon. Then around 6:30 I give her another 1/8 and 1/4 cup of food, sometimes I add in boiled chicken, a little cheese, or carrots. However, it isn't often that she finishes what I've put out. Sometimes I get worried that she doesn't like the food, but I just think that she is a little eater. She'll eat when she is hungry. She will be 4 months next week. Last time at the vet she was 2.8 pounds. |
um her weight food is something the vet gave us, he said it was really good for her and better for her digestion. Then we feed her kibble that's eukanuba puppy small breed we feed her that mixed (about a "handful" of each) in the morning and then again at night she weighs 4 lbs. but is always gaining weight, she's almost 7 months |
Ollie is 6 months, she weighs 3 1/2 pounds. Chachi is 4 1/2 months and weighs 4 pounds. They each get 1/4 container of Cesars twice a day, and they free feed on a variety of dry food all day. They gobble up the Cesars, but never over do it on the dry. If I had a chow hound, I would feed according to the package directions for their age and weight, And maybe divide it into 2 or 3 meals. |
Angel is 5mnths old and weighed 2lbs 8oz back on Jun.12. We feed her 3 times a day, or I should say DJ30 does :p, 8am, 1pm and 6pm. She is given about 1/4 cup (40 pcs of kibble) of Nutro Max Mini Chunk softened with a little bit of water. Sometimes it takes some coaxing to get her to eat but at other times when she sees you making her food she starts to whine :animal36 |

I have one that acts like she's starving all of the time too. Be careful because when they like food, they can get fat super fast! At a yr. old, Gracie weighed 8 lbs and the vet said she needed to lose a lb or so because she was a little chunky. Well we cut out the people food that we shared with her and I thought I was doing good. At her 2 yr checkup she was 10 lbs! I got a little lecture from the vet, started taking her on walks and switched her food around a little and she's back to 8 lbs but she seriously always seems hungry. I've given up on getting her down to 7 lbs. Wow, I just rambled and never did answer your question. My three are 2 1/2 and 8 lbs, 1 1/2 and 3 lbs and 8 months and 4 lbs. 8 lbs gets 1/4 cup Nutro Ultra dry in am and 1/8c dry mixed with 1 big spoonful of Nutro Ultra or Merrick wet at night. The other two get pretty much the same but a little less. The puppy gets Nutro Natural Puppy dry and the same wet as the others. Same scoop of dry but I don't fill it as much and smaller spoonfuls of the wet. The 3 lb guy never comes close to finishing so I'm probably giving him too much. Good thread, I always wonder what other people are doing.:p |
Both my dogs weigh 8lbs & Lucky is 1 1/2 & Lucy is almost 11 months. They both have dry food out all day & I feed them Innova. They love it. I give them 1/2 cup each & that's usually all they eat of that a day. They get a few doggie treats a day too & usually a little people food, which is whatever my daughter throws down from her highchair! haha!:D I don't know if this would help any but what if you gave her food that the pieces were bigger so she would have to slow down to eat it. Like I said...not sure if that would work, but you could try it!:) |
:aimeeyork ZheZhe is 4 years old and has a little weight problem. She has gained 2 lbs. in the last year. Her vet was a little upset. She went from 9 lbs to 11 lbs. So, he suggested to put her on Premium Edge Healthy Weight Management II Program. It's a fairly new product. It's all natural food and Zhe loves it. I feed her 1/3 cup in morings and 1/3 cup in evenings. Since March of this year, she has lost 1/2 pound. We have also changed her treats. We went to a all natural treat. Evolve all natural Granola treat. And she loves those. She gets one of these a day. Since we have switched her to all natural foods, Zhe looks and I'm sure she feels a whole lot better. pwolfkill |
