BULLY STICKS... is this for real? So maybe i'm a little naieve or just ditzy.I just went to www.bullysticks.com and in their ad it states 'our Bully Sticks are 100% bull penis'..... have you got to be kidding me, is this true? Gross. Maybe i'm just that out of it, but I assumed it was some sort of really hard beef jerky or something. |
Yes it is true. |
The ad is correct:p . |
Thats what they are....kinda gross.... but Ladys loves them, most dogs seem to enjoy them...and from all the post I have read on here about bully sticks they are the safest for them to chew on. |
Merrick's are beef tendons. I don't think they are all the same. The merrick ones smell like beef jerky. I bought one at Petsmart once that smelled up the whole house and it was STINKY. |
WHAT?! Are you KIDDING?! This is freaking me out. Maybe I'm just a little naive as well. I have never given mine bully sticks, but I was considering it. I don't know how I feel about my babies having a penis of any sort in their mouths :p I wonder what the neighbors would think if they came over and saw bull penises laying around :D |

ERIN... do you order them directly from Merrick, their website? I was at PetSmart last night and picked up one of the little knotted end ones, about 4inches long, it was like $2.00... Is this the normal price? Just wondering if anyone knows where to purchase even online a little less pricey. My cockapoo devoured it in about 5 minutes! Not a chance for little Scrappy to taste :( |
I LOVE these bullysticks posts! :lol tears I too recently was one of "you people" who didn't know what a bullystick was! I love people's reactions. IT'S WHAT?!?!?!?!?! :lol tears :eyeballpc :sidesplt: |
Yep I order straight from Merrick. I think they have a $25 minimum order but it's free shipping. I usually order 6 12" ones at a time, it's around $30. I give him about 1 per week. They are about $5 each. I buy the Merrick ones because they are made in America and they are not so stinky. I thought the Petsmart ones were gross. Oh, and yes Loki eats the 12" ones... he thinks the 6" ones are for wimps. I buy the 12" because I throw them away when they get about 2" left, so he gets more out of the 12" one! |
I don't give my babies bully sticks only because they stink. . .. I ain't no kissing stinking babies  Instead, I give them these regular tendons/muscles that have no smell to it . . .I get it at an upscale petstore for 69 cents each . . .and they both love it! |
Tiggersmom... do the tenderloins you purchase have a name, does the petstore have a website? We just recently took away the rawhides, as i've learned they aren't good for furkids. So replacing them with a few different options is my goal. |

That's what my girls get to chew on, i aint giving them no bulliesticks LOL :p |
It always amazes me when some of you guys say your pups go through 'em so fast... The last 8-9" one Pixie had lasted her a good 2 months! I got her a braided one (three sticks braided into one, it's about 4 inches long), she's had it for a month and has barely put a dent in it! She must not chew on it nearly as often as your dogs do.... Do you leave them out for them to have all day? I don't as I'm afraid she'll choke on it or something.. Am I being a little overprotective? |
