Ask yourself this Ask yourself this: How many times a day do you feed your pooch vs. how many times a day does he/she have a bowel movement? If he/she poops more than he/she eats then what you're feeding isn't right. That's more than common sense, it's factual. All dogs do better with different kibbles, so if you own more than one it makes it pretty difficult to do what's right and find out who does best with what. Natural dog foods have always scored the highest. Please, do your homework and check the ingredients. Stay away from foods with by-products, and corn. By-products are just left overs like feet, beak, ear, tail, etc. Corn causes dogs to have bowel movements which then cause them to eat more. Here is an example of a great list of ingredients: Chicken, turkey, chicken meal, turkey meal, brown rice, pearled barley, lamb meal, oatmeal, chicken fat, dried eggs, fish meal, natural flavoring, canola oil, flaxseed, fresh potatoes, fresh carrots, fresh peas, whole fresh apples, cranberries, dried chicory root, salt, potassium chloride, lecithin, garlic, vitamins, dehydrated kelp, minerals, yucca schidigera extract, sage extract, digestive enzymes and probiotics. http://www.dogfoodanalysis.com/dog_food_reviews/ |
Good post! Oscar eats twice a day and poops twice a day! |
That's a good point you got there. Gives me something to think about when I get my new baby soon. Michelle |
Some people don't really put much emphasis on what to feed. Just whatever is name brand or whatever someone they know with a dog feeds. It doesn't work that way. I"ll stress it that different dogs perform and react differently to different foods. Makes it harder if you have more than one dog. Also a better quality food increases the life span. Read the original article posted and you'll pick up on some interesting facts. |
Well i really need to know what is best for little pups any suggetsions? Also have you heard of a do food named Blue?:animal-pa :aimeeyork :p |
I took a look at that site. First, I had to go down to the 1 star ratings before any even looked familiar. Never liked Beneful, but I would have thought Bil Jac was better. I looked at the ingredients for the top dry foods and they look great, but when I looked at the analysis they were 42% protein - seems like an awful lot, especially since there are Yorkies with liver problems. |
