Raw chicken wing Another forum I go to highly reccommend feeding them . They say it does wonders for the tartar on the teeth and say it is safe to do so. Does anyone here feed them? |
I don't but I did hear the same. Someone will answer because I recall running across two or three folks that feed a raw diet. Good luck. I am a bit too squeamish to feed a raw diet. |
Each to their own, I suppose, but a chicken bone will never cross the lips of mine.:D |

Do you feed any raw bones? |
My FIL goes by the meat locker and gets beef bones and takes them around to everyone. We all have big outdoor dogs, an airdale, irish wolfhound, lab, etc. When he does that Reuger always finds them and carries them into the front yard (it's fenced and only he can run in and out) I don't have a problem with him having large bones but I don't like him having chicken bones (because of splintering) or small bones (to choke on). |
Cooked chicken bones are a no no - they splinter. Raw chicken bones crumble into pieces.... I've been told you shouldn't feed any weight bearing bones (legs and such), as they can cause problems. Not sure how, but I steer clear of them anyway. Chicken wings, chicken necks, oxtails... Pixie has eaten them in the past. I have not given her any recently though. I'm sure she's anxiously waiting for another one... I can get organic frozen chicken necks and wings at a health food store. I haven't seen oxtails in a while... Just be sure you clean up thouroughly afterwards. |
Thanks kelly, I think I will google it and find more info on it. |

There is no way I would give my dogs chicken bones cooked or uncooked |
Unless the chicken is FREE RANGING ORGANIC, which has injested absolutely NO hormones antibiotics or other chemicals, then I never even consider it. I have decided that little girls eating so much chicken full of growth hormones is why their little bodies are starting to "sprout" so young. I work in an elementary school and see girls developing breasts as early as 2nd and 3rd grade  |
I feed Bambie raw chicken legs or some raw beef bones once a week. I don't give her chicken wings cause they have smaller bones and I'm afraid she'll choke on it. Here's Bambie with her first raw chicken leg. She didn't eat the whole thing but she was feeling like a true widdle wolf. :p http://static.flickr.com/59/17181072...a8890d.jpg?v=0 |
i wouldnt give lexi anything raw except veggies...thats yucky.. if i wont eat it i wont let her either.. outta the question |
i would never give my dogs any chicken bones cooked or not. i thought raw meat was bad for dogs, people etc...?? because of bacteria ans such, am i wrong, or is that just for people? |
Research raw diet for dogs and you can read tons of stuff about it. |
