Not Eating, Yellow Bile, Growly Tummy Ok, I got Reggie in the middle of February. He seems to have a finicky tummy. So far we have been to emergency vet Sunday morning twice, up all night with him last week, and now he's not eating again and his tummy is growly. Yesterday he threw up some foamy yellow bile, but then later he was very hungry and ate dinner a while after I gave him some Pepto Bismol. This morning he wouldn't eat (including his treat which he LOVES) but he's not throwing up. His tummy is very growly. He is a very picky eater so I've tried different foods with him to entice him to eat. Even though I've changed his food a couple of times, his upset stomach doesn't coincide with the change of diet so I don't think that's the problem. Anyone have any suggestions of what I can do or what I should feed him to make sure he eats consistently? :scratchhe |
when misty has a growly tummy. i let her go outside and she eats grass. and her tummy is much better no more growling. for some reason when they eat grass it settles there tummy :p |
When Mitzi has a growling stomach she gets very scared so we give her 'beano' drops and after about 10 minutes the growling stops and she settles down. Maybe your little one eats a little to fast and gets a lot of air in his little belly. The yellow foamy vomit doesn't sound so good. Does he lick or chew somewhere where he shouldn't? You could try a rice and chicken diet for a while. :aimeeyork |
When my dogs throw up the yellow foamy bile it's usualy becasue they have nothing on thier stomach. I would try and entice him to eat whatever he will eat and see if the vet can give you some medicine for his finicky stomach. I hope he is feeling better soon. |
Im sorry your little Reggie is sick and not eating. If he has being throwing up yellow bile is because his stomach is empty. You can give him some boil chicken. Also give him nutrical to avoid hypoglycemia. I think you should call your vet if he keeps vomiting and not eating. I will have him in my thoughts and prayers. Please keep us posted. :ghug: |
Reggie's Tummy Troubles Thank you all for your care and thoughtful suggestions. When he was vomitting the yellow, foamy bile, we decided it was an empty tummy and gave him some Pepto. An hour or so later, we gave him some "holistic" food (I think it was Nutro Ultra) and he loved it. I thought we were doing good until he wouldn't eat this morning. I don't know if the new food upset his intestines. I'm going to keep trying. Does anyone have any experience in making home made dog food? If you do and you have a good recipe, would you mind sharing? thank you! :dogsm6: |
For your food problem, have you tried Natural Balance? My little dog is so finicky he used to do the same as yours. Someone on here told me to try it and he ALWAYS eats now. Maybe you should try some too. I buy the lamb and rice because my little one has allergies to alot of foods. |
Did you call your vet? Pancreatitis??? Hi, My little Buddy had very similar symptoms and he was diagnosed with pancreatitis. He had to go to the vet two times and be put on an IV and had to stay over night. He is doing well now, but it can be verrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrry dangerous and even fatal. I know your baby is a puppy, but Natural Balance makes a meat product that is sold in a tube (like sausage) in lamb/rice, beef/rice, and turkey/rice. Since Sissy went on her dry food strike, it is the only thing I can get her to eat. You slice off a piece and cut it into little chunks. Natural Balance is one of the highest rated foods available. The rep I met told me they don't have a puppy formula because they believe their food is so superior, they wean puppies directly onto it. Much easier (and cheaper) than making dog food. They carry it at PetCo. |

Sorry about Reggie...I know that I always put 4 drops of ginger in Lilly's water bowl. She loves it. Lilly always has tummy growling and tummy upset, and it really has improved her health :) just a suggestion...good luck! ~lizette |
