Cataracts Bo is going to the eye doctor today to have his cataracts checked out. Has anyone had their yorkiess cataracts removed or are there alternatives? It is an vet eye specialist he is going to so this is all new to me. I am not sure of the cost either but if it keeps him from going blind it would be worth it |
I hope everything goes well for you. Sending prayers your way. |
Thank You!!!! |
I would do it in a heartbeat! Bo is still young. Just think what it would do for his quality of life!:) |

I just got back from the eye Dr and she says Bo can still see and she doesn't feel like they are bad enough for an operation. I go back in a month to make sure it has not progressed. Bo is going to be 10 y/o next month and I would not want him to not be able to squirrel hunt in his golden years. Baby Blessing I am glad that you had your cataracts taken care of. That must be terrible not being able to see. Thank God we have treatment for so much now. Even our little furbabies. I will keep everyone updated and thanks so much. |
That good new for Bo. |
Glad to hear Bo is doing okay. We'll keep our fingers crossed that he continues to stay okay. Hows your other little one?? |
I'm glad Bo is ok too. I had a poodle that got cataracts removed when she was only 2 years old. She got her vision back but lost depth preception. She adjusted to her new eyesite quickly and live a long full life. Now this was over 15 years ago and I'm sure there has been many many advances in veterinary opthamology since then so I wouldn't hesitate to have the surgery done if and when the time comes. I hope that's a loooooong ways off for Bo. |
Thanks everyone. Two years seems awfully young to have cataracts. Leigh-Duncan is doing great. He does have food allergies though and I have him on a z/d Hills diet for two months. Duncan cannot wait for another meetup since he missed the last one. Thanks again, Cathy |
