Yucky! Why did he EAT it??!! Okay this is a bit gross but it has to be asked! Normally, we have a closed bathroom door policy since Austin just loves to get into the trash - especially used tampons- but we accidently left it open...BIG MISTAKE! I woke up in the middle of the night and noticed he was chewing on something so I reached down to see what is was and well....it was a used tampon! YUCK! He went all "gremlin" on me and before I knew it...he ate it!!!! Okay so here is the question....I know what goes in must come out...but WILL this come out? Should I take him to the vet? I KNOW this sounds silly but his vet is SO CUTE and I can't imagine TELLING him what he ate! But I will if I have to....after all he is my baby! |

I would call the vet and see what they suggest. Talk about nasty. Mine would probably do the same thing giving the chance. Wyatt likes my undies, I try to make sure that they are in the hamper in between clothes so that he can't pull them out. I've had to throw several away and it's almost time to buy more. |
It wll most lkely come out dont worry. My Jewels does has ate them and it totally grosses my husband out. |
i dont know much but i do know that a tampon is a big piece of cottom, you should call the vet because there may be some "vacteria" (lets not get into more details) that may harm him?? i better be careful then:eek: |
OMG! that is nasty! I cracked up at your " he went all Gremlin on me" !:D I have experienced that, mine was with a poor bunny..:( |

I would definitely be worried about bowel obstruction. You might give it 24 hours to see if he passes it, but if not I would take him in. |
I completely know what you are talking about! My Sadee will do the same thing and it is so gross. I dont know why they do that. |
 I was expecting the common and frequent “my baby ate it’s own poop.” I did not see that coming….wow….gross…but totally unsurprising at the same time. They have this perverted fetish with those types of things. I would call a random vet out of the phone book (not the cute one), just to be on the safe side. |
This is not funny.. I took my much bigger golden to the ER , and they had to induce vomiting.. if that item stays in your yorkies stomach-- you could lose him. Cotton swells up. It will not come out the other end.. do not delay--go to your vet! |
Sorry it took a couple of days to reply but here is the update on "the incident"....I decided to call the vet and ask about what could happen, etc....so if this ever happens to any of yall this is what yall should do....it COULD be dangereous but it is always better to see if it passes naturally instead of inducung vomiting of having any medical intervention. After about 24 hours if it hasn't passed, or if your baby is lethargic, not eating, not pooping or is vomiting...immediately take him to the vet. However, if he isn't acting any different, wait another 24 hours and see if it has passed. If it STILL has not passed after about 2 days....TAKE HIM TO THE VET...it could be dangerous if he doesn't "dispose" of it! |
I almost forgot! I searched the backyard and found the tampon in his poop about 30 hours after he ate it! The things we do for our babies! and by the way this is for all the support!:thumbs up :thumbs up :thumbs up :thumbs up |
