Beef Bones: Are they OK?? Since we can't give our furbabies Greenies or Rawhide....Can we give them Beef Bones instead? I want my Yorkies to have something that has a long chewing life. Bully Sticks are too short, and don't last long. Rubber toys get eaten too fast, and even the plastic bones get eaten too. Do you guys have any suggestions on what I should give to my dogs? Do you also have advice on preparing the beef bones? (Boiling, cutting, etc.) Thanks for your input/help. |
Once in a while I give Mitzi boiled oxtail bones, the smaller ones. They don't have sharp edges and I take them away when the cartilage part is gone.:aimeeyork |
I've been struggling with this with Punkin. The vet said beef bones are excellent for her teeth and that she should have a big one so that she can't choke on it. The problem I have is that she says it needs to be raw  I'm a huge germ freak and can't imagine letting her tote a raw bone around the house. I recently read that you can boil a beef bone for 30 seconds and it won't soften it - but I'm not sure I want to take that chance. |
try cow hooves.. they last |

I'm interested also. I made pork ribs for supper and I know Giz can't have those. What about beef ribs? |

We've given beef ribs, but only the larger ones, and I boiled them - this was before I knew they were supposed to be raw. Punkin adored them!!!! Some of the beef ribs are very small - 1 to 3 inches and my vet said that size was too small. |
