feeding honey and ceasars? ok so i woke up and my puppy was fussy n biting on everything so i went to the pharmacy since the pet store still hasnt opened, i used a drop of honey as a substitute for nutrical.....just a drop i dunno if this would raise back his blood sugar and he still wont eat his eukabena food that the breeder gave me so i bought ceasars which alot of ppl have been debating about, i wasnt sure how much to give the little guy so i gave him a forkfull in his plate with the dry food but he just ran over to it and only ate the forkful of ceasars, i then gave him another forkful and he ate all and then another one since he downed it so much but that he didnt eat, so he basically ate half of the package. he is only 10 wks so im not sure of how i should be feeding him, alot of people have the same questions but every dog is differnt. when i go to the pet store im debating on if i should buy a bag of kibbles n bits dry food for puppies and mix the ceasars? any ideas? |

you might want to try to mix it together or put the wet food on top of the dry. i did this for my other dog (golden retriever) when we first got her. |

My breeder had mine on Cesars and dry food. I continued with it. 1/4 container of Cesars morning and night, and let them free feed on dry food all day. My breeder also told me she leaves out several different brands of dry food, so I started doing that because I have a picky eater. So I leave out 3 different brands at all times. I rotate between, Royal Canine baby dog Natural choice lamb and rice Euknauba Iams Science Diet the little bites and plain old Puppy chow. They eat them all, some days they eat one, some days another, I don't have any problem with diarrhea |

I give mine a 1/2 tin each of the Caesars in the Morning. I leave dry food out all the time. |

I would mix the ceasers with a good quality kibble and refrigerate for a few hours to let the ceasers soak into the kibble. Then he might eat a bit of both. It's great he has settled enough to eat a bit. Sounds like he was really hungry-he may eat less next time. Offer food 4x aday to such a little puppy. I would still get the Nutrical, though the honey was a good idea. You can get good quality canned food at the petstore-I use Nutro--if you are concerned about Ceasers--but for now i would be happy he is eating. It took my pup about a month for her eating to settle,so I can appreciate how anxious you are feeling. I hope your day goes well today and enjoy your puppy. |

I give Jack, 18 months, a container of Ceasar every evening, and keep dry Beneful out for him during the day. I started him on Ceasar Puppy when he was just 10 weeks old, and he is thriving. I started the adult when he was a year old. I tried the new Beneful prepackaged stew and he only ate a little of it, and walked away. It has veggies and what looks like pieces of meat in it. But, I guess he likes his Ceasar better. |

If he likes the Ceasars - I'd let him eat all he wants. It's important to keep him eating - and drinking. Two things - 1) I have heard that honey isn't as good as nutrical - the experts will know more about this than I do. 2) I've read often that Caesars isn't a very healthy dog food. My dogs don't like it very much (don't know why - it looks good to me) -- but anyway, eventually we'll get what I have eaten. Good luck - Carol Jean |
