controlling fleas Have any of you here tried natural things to control fleas? We have always used Frontline on Baylee and since it has warmed up this year, he is still covered in fleas. I think maybe our boys are bringing them in on them from the woods (we live in the country) and from the outside dogs and they are getting in the carpet and on Baylee and the Frontline doesn't seem to be working. How can that be? I do not want to spray the inside of the house because of the chemicals. Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks Baylee's Mom |
Use "Critter Oil" Have you read my post on "Critter Oil"? It's in the Health and Diet section. It's all natural essential oils, and I have been using it for about 2 weeks. I followed the instructions, and mixed it in a spray bottle. I shake it very very well, and spray my guys everyday before they go out. NO FLEAS!!!! They do get sprayed with Frontline Spray once a month. This stuff is very versitile. You can mix it in the shampoo, spray your garden, etc. It smells strong at first, but you and the dogs get used to it fast. So far, no adverse reactions. Price is good. Lasts a long time. Please search for my thread. All the info is there. |
my co-worker swears by...beer. I dunno, I personally wouldn't feed my dog beer, but he does and he swears it keeps away the fleas??? Another lady said to bath in Johnson's baby shampoo. I don't know if that works, but that was our topic of conversation yesterday :D lol |
Do you get frontline of frontline plus? If you get just frontline then that is your problem, only frontline plus will kill live fleas and the eggs. I personally have used advantage on all my dogs for years and never had any problems with fleas. You may also want to check out K9 Advantix it not only kills fleas and flea eggs and ticks but it also repels them. It was highly recommened by my vet. However, if you do have fleas already in your carpet this won't work because even though the fleas won't be able to be on your dog they can still start coming on you and fleas can live a long time without a host. So the only thing you could do is get a flea bomb, set and then leave the house, all animals included. This is the only way to get rid of a flea infestation in the house. If it is only on your dog, then one of the flea medicines that I have mentioned should work. |
I am trying the garlic and yeast tablets for dogs to help with that. So we will see. I hated using the pesticides on the little guy am hopeful that this will work. I will keep yall posted. We havent had any yet. Takes about 1 month of use to fully protect and he like them. I wrap it in a small peice of cheese so he get a yummy garlic cheese taste. This also help with the smelly dog. I have already noticed it helping with that. |
You need to treat the yard and I prefer Frontline Plus. |
