Neutered...now slow healing or possible infection? Not too long ago (rough estimate of a little over one month)...we had our dog neutered. The stitches that were used...are of the dissolving type. The area seems to have healed quite well...except for one particular spot. This spot...is at one end of the stitching. Instead of a totally complete heal...the tissue area seems to be ever so slightly raised. Total diameter is smaller than the size of a pencil eraser. My wonderful girlfriend...has taken a q-tip to help clean the area...and when she does this...seems to get some clear puss come from the wound (not a lot...just a bit...similar to the puss that we get when we pick at deep cuts/developing scars). Our poor little dog doesn't seem bothered by it...although maybe once a day, he may lick at the area. Has anyone else experienced this? Is it possible that this area may take a long time to heal? Just thought I'd ask...as I'm worried about the little guy. My girlfriend called the vet and we'll be taking him in soon...but I wanted to get some possible advice from you guys. I'm hoping that this is just an area that is taking an extremely long time to heal and not an infection. |
Talk to the vet for sure, that small area sounds infected. |
