Mickey is suddenly urinating all over the place I noticed this a couple of months ago and it got worse and worse. He was really well trained and always went on his weewee pad. However, about 2-3 months ago, Mickey started peeing on our kitchen rug that we recently purchased (because our floor is really cold in the winter). We decided to take the rug away, but he continued peeing around the kitchen. We found it odd because he was neutered about a year ago and he stopped marking his territory right away. Is this a return of the marking phase? :confused: The problem got worse as he started peeing all over the house as well. The strange part is that he would also go on his weewee pad. About two weeks ago, the problem hit an all time low. For the first time ever, Mickey started to pee in my bed! I put a cover on the bed and so far he only went once. The level of stress in our house has gone up due to various reasons and I thought that Mickey might be picking up on this stress and acting out. Is that possible? Does anyone have any idea why he's doing this? Should I be worried? I considered taking him to the vet, but I wasn't sure if this is a medical thing. Thanks... |
Help from groomers Hi! How is your furbaby doing? Did you find out what it was? I go onto a site called "Groomer to Gromer", and there they mentioned that they use human "antibacterial liquid soap" on dogs with red rashes, and it works!!! One groomer particularly likes Dial with a scent. She used it, and the rash was gone when the dog came out of the bath. I did not mark the thread, but the site makes for some interesting reading about grooming, salons, safety, etc. Check it out. www.groomertogroomer.com |
Hi Mickey the York, Has your pup been drinking more than usual? If so, please take him to the vet. I have a Bichon that started this and after taking him to the vet I found out he was diabetic. I am not saying this is so for your little one, but usually when a dog has been housetrained for a long time and suddenly has accidents it points to a medical reason, not emotional. Sorry, the Groomers message meant for red rash My two yorkie boys were fighting, got distracted to supervise, and posted wrong reply. Anyway, has his drinking volume increased? Could be Urinary Tract Infection. Have vet check him out. You don't want it to go on too long. If you could get a urine sample to bring with you, that would be great. (let him go on the floor where the pee-pee pads are placed, and suck up as much as you can with a 5ml syringe - the one you give liquid meds to children with) May need blood work to rule out kidney disfuction. Diabetes usually does not occur until age 6 or 7, but can earlier. They will check for that also. Keep us posted. |
I know others already mentioned this, but a UTI or Kidney disfunction is what popped into my head. I had a cat that was constantly urinating. The vet did a urinalysis and discovered he had some crystals form in his bladder and they were making it difficult for him to go. He has to be on prescription food for the rest of his life now! Take him to the vet. At least then you can determine if it's a medical problem or a true behavioral issue... |

Uti HEY! My Miko was doing the same thing. He goes outside, never in the house, and He knows not to. Well on Saturday he went twice, in my floor. He had also starting soiling his crate regularly. At first I thought it was a behavior issue, but when he went on the floor I knew something else was up. I took him to the vet yesterday. He has a UTI, and also had calcium crystals in his urine. The vet explained that because of the irritants in his bladder/urine, it was causing him to think he had to go more, so he would. He is on antibiodics now and hopefully will be better soon. |
My three year old Remmy started doing this. He was perfectly housetrained dog and then we would find pee pee everywhere. He had bladder stones and just had surger the other day. does your doggie strain when going pee. Is it a puddle of pee of dribble? |

I had a schnauzer that did the same thing and she had a urinary tract infection that was treated with antibiotics, but the only reason I knew it was because she suddenly started having accidents and then she peed on my bed. When I took her to the vet he diagnosed the UTI and said that she was probably in pain and was looking for comfort in my bed because it would hurt to urinate. |
