What now? HELP Ok I have tried chicken soup, nutro, flint river, innova and merricks and Hayleys doesnt eat any of it good. She may pick a lil bit if she is starved. This morning I was filling up the outside dog container and hubby has them on purina healthy weight, I droped a few morrsels and Hayley gobbled it up like steak!!! I dont get it!!! She dives into the cat chow every chance she gets also!!! Its like she wants what she cant have. Does anyone have any other suggestions on what kind of kibble I can try next? I dont want to do the canned because of her teeth. I think we have spoiled her to people food, healthy food of course but never the less I want her to eat her kibble....what should I try now? Please Help me, I want whats best for her. She is almost 8 months old and I know we already have probably bad eating habbits.. :( |
I have heard alot of good things about picky dogs eating Innova so thats what I am going to try with my dogs if I can find it. They are both picky when it comes to the kibbles. I see you have already tried that so what about California natural or Natural balance kibble. |
My yorkie, Trace, was a picky eater. He'd gobble down whatever right up until I bought a bag of it. I finally bought canned because he had to eat something. So I'd give him 1/2 container of Little Ceasars (I know it's not the best, but he liked it) in the am, the other 1/2 in the evening. I left out kibble all day. He got so he ate the kibble....sometimes more times than he ate the wet. I could definitely tell a difference in his eating habits when we restricted people food. He could "hold out" forever for people food. Right now, Ramsey is a good eater. She's never had wet food, loves her kibble, and really hasn't had much "people" food....though her nose sniffs and sniffs the air...she already knows that stuff smells much better than what I'm giving her ;) Good luck..... |

Go to the innova website and you can find a list of stores that carry it in your area. That's what I had to do and it was NOT available at any of our "pet" stores....not the ones you think of immediately any way. |
I second Chachi's mom, My gizmo is a picky eater he weighs 4.4lbs @ 9 months but I found he LOVES California Natural , it's made by Natura which also makes Innova but it is a less complex formula.. I get him Chicken & Rice and they Both (MADDY too) love it.... the 5.5 bag runs you about $8.99.... this lasts me 1 month.... I don't buy the bigger one just in case they get tired of it..... but we have been on it since Dec. 2005 and a-ok.... Oh he also has a sensitive tummy so this helps too ..... good luck! |

where do I get royal canine and california natural? |
Royal Canine you can get at Petco and Petsmart. California Natural you would need to get at a specialty store or online. |
This sounds cruel, I know, but remember this. A dog will NOT starve itself. Your pup probably knows that if she stops eating what you give her, you'll give her something better. She may like that for a day or so and then stop eating it. WHERE'S CAESAR MILAN WHEN YOU NEED HIM??? ;) |
Royal Canin :animal-pa Definitely try Royal Canin-my puppy loves it...They make a formula for small breed puppies and you can get a formula specifically made for Adult Yorkies once they are over 10 months old. Our vet recommended it and we purchase ours from Petsmart. |
