Can anyone please help me! My little yorkie is very sick. It started when I noticed that her body was starting to get bloated. I took her to the vet and took fluid and saw that it was mostly protein. Her body is not absorbing the protein in her body. She is also not eating her food. The dr. prescribed lasix, and prednisone to her. That helped initially and her swelling went down some, now she is starting to swell up again. I do not know what to do, and am very woried about her. The dr. thinks its a kidney problem. I love my little dog very much. Has anyone seen this before ? |
How old is your Yorkie? Have you considered trying for a 2nd opinion from another vet? I'm sorry to hear about your baby. |
How is your puppy? I may be speaking for others also but would like to hear an update. Cindy |
Is the bloating mostly in the stomach area? there are a lot of different things it could be, but your vet is the best person to find out from. |
Thank you My vet put my yorkie on more Lasix. This seems to be helping. I am giving her a half tablet of 12.5 lasix 3 times a day. When she starts to go back to a normal weight, I am to decrease the dosage. The bloating is all in the "Belly" area. The vet took a "tap" of the liquid and showed me, it is clear liquid, that looks like water. The Dr. said it was protein. The lasix is removing the liquid. She is on a Science diet W/D hard and soft food diet. I am also giving her 1 hard boiled egg a day (vet suggestion) which she loves eggs. Thank you all for your concern. :) Scott |
did your vet tell you what causes it so that you can make sure it does not happen again? I know that dogs can have problems with stomach's bloating from eating too much at one time, or taking a lot of water right after a meal, but if it is protien liquid it is probably caused by something else. I would ask if there is something you should be watching for in the future. |
