Cassie's response to Parvo Thank You everyone, for the thoughts and prayers. I went to see Cassie this afternoon, she is eating solid food, barking , jumping and wanting out of her cage. She looks awful and smells terrible but that can be corrected as soon as we get her home within the next couple of days hopefully. They took her IV out for awhile today, will put it back in for the night. Guys please, watch out for Parvo seems it is going around. It is a horrible virus that most of our babies do not recover from. I am wondering what good the vaccinations do, if it's not going to protect from this killer virus? There were several other pets in ER with the virus and according to the vet tech, they are not doing good. Little Juice, was dead within 56 hours of showing symptoms. My vet says there is no know medications human or animal, that will kill the virus. It has to run it's course usually about 1 week or more. What a nightmare! Thanks again, for your support and caring about my babies. |
parvo Great news...parvo was such a terrible thing..I remember how relieved we all were when they found a vaccine for it..but it is not fool proof. There was a time they thought it was airborne..that made me nuts. I did nto go to a dog show for over a year and then I was scared. Can you imagine havign a dog bring it home to 20 others..? Glad to hear Cassie is doing so well..and Little Juice will never be forgotten I am sure. |
I am so happy Cassie is doing better. I don't understand this Parvo outbreak. I had never heard of any dogs havibg it until recently. Does the vaccince protect them or not? I am getting to the point I don't want to take my dogs for a walk for fear of picking something up. |
Have any of you ever tried or heard anything about Parvoguard? It claims to kill the virus. I emailed to ask what the shelf life was and they have never answered - thought it might be something good to just have on hand, but they will overnight it, but my luck I would need it on a weekend! www.parvoguard.com |
I saw the advertisment for Parvoguard. Here is what I read that made me not order it. Selmedica Healthcare™ products are neither approved nor disapproved by the FDA. That is great she is doing so well...Parvo is a horrible thing. |
Glad to hear Cassie is doing good and recovering. Do you have any idea where the Parvo might have been picked up from? Makes me think twice about taking walks with the dogs! |
Kelsey had parvo when she was a baby...and she is just fine now..thank god! She is due for another parvo vaccination (they reccommend you get another shot when they turn a year). I just noticed yesterday she had some diarreah. I'm hoping she doesn't have it again..could be a possibility. :( Im hoping and praying she is just fine. Im so glad your baby is doing wonderful! Great news! :) |

I brought Cassie home today, gave her a good bath and she ate her food. she hasn't had any problems today, other than she wants out of her kennel. I need to keep her separated from the others for 2 weeks. So I guess she will get use to kennel life. Poor baby! |
Im glad that Cassie is feeling better and is home. I will keep her in my prayers for her to fully recover. I will also have Kelsey in my prayers that she doesn't get parvo again. :( |
I am glad she is home and doing better. I will keep her in my prayers that she continues to improve. |
