Making my baby's ears stand without cropping ( :( ouch!) 1 Attachment(s) Hello everyone! We just got our new baby and really don't want to have his ears cropped because he is already 5 weeks old and it would be such a production to have it done. We do, however, want his ears to stand. Is there anyway to "teach" his ears stand and not have to have them cropped? Thanks! Amanda and Lori |
I wasn't aware that you COULD have a yorkie's ears cropped  There's a way to tape their ears after they're shaved down, and some people have sworn that massaging works wonders as well. Check out this thread for some links: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2781 |
hm.. ok, so maybe I misunderstood. the person I got him from said that they were supposed to have their ears cut. Maybe she only meant to have the hair trimmed. Thanks for the reply. |
I found this method easier than cutting and taping cardboard to their ears. I did this for 2 days since then I haven't had any problems with her ears falling. http://members.cox.net/jrogan/ears.html |
When I got Bailey his ears were down also,, but I kept trimming the hair on the edges and when I got him groomed they shaved them properly, and when we sat I always massaged his ears, (which he LUVED), and eventually one went up, then when the other did the other would fall??!! I was soo worried, for probably2-3 months , one ear up in all his baby pic's ( which is soo cute now)! But I'd say by 4 months they were both up.. and always have been. Then my girlfriend gets a 8wks old pup and his are straight up and BIG!! (looked like a furry bat) so go figure?! I think they are all diffrent. Like the coat changing color,,, it varies. |
Thanks for the information. I will be getting my new baby in a few weeks and did not want to have her ears cut. |
pup You do not crop a Yorkies ears. Your pup is 5 weeks, really? That is the youngest I have heard a breeder let one go. |
She is 11 weeks now Sorry for the confusion. She is 11 weeks now and I don't have her yet. I expect to get her in a month or so. |
