2 rows of teeth! My yorkie turned 2, Jan 5, and still has the 2 rows of teeth on the bottom and top! I've been waiting to see if the teeth would fall out-thinking they were baby teeth, but now he's 2! I don't think it's going to happen.. Has this happened to your yorkie? Thanks so much for your help! |
My Katys baby teeth did not all fall out when her big teeth came in. My vet removed them when she was spayed. |
sometimes with smaller breeds the baby teeth won't fall out naturally, they'll need to be extracted. check with your vet. |
Hobbs has 6 front teeth!! He is getting his baby teeth pulled today while he is being neutered. You will probably have to get the vet to pull them. |
At that age I dont think they are going to fall out youll need to gett them pulled. Mine had 4 pulled when they were spayed/neutered. |
I pretty much thought I would make an appointment for his teeth soon, since they havn't fallen out now. Thanks ya all very much! I just have never read about 2 rows of teeth, thought it was wierd and maybe he has faults in his line that maybe the breeder needs to know? |
It is very common for smaller yorkies to have their teeth retained. You should have your vet look at them and have them pulled. If left in they could ruin his bite and cause more food to get stuck between the teeth, causing decay and early removal of all his teeth. |
JUst last week, we had to have several baby teeth pulled because Yogi had 2 rows of teeth also. It has nothing to do with a fault in his pedigree line. I asked my Vet about this. They can and will eventually rot and cause problems,so they need to come out. He also its very common in the smaller breed dogs. |
I agree with everyone else's answer. I asked my vet about it and she said that it could take up to a year for the baby teeth to fall out. After that amount of time, they probably will not come out on their own and will need to be pulled. |
Ruby had her baby canines and adults all in there plus some baby molars so I just got all the baby teeth pulled when she got spaied. Bella is in the midst of teething so i'm going to wait until she is 1 year old and then if she has her baby teeth still i'll have them pulled when she's spaid. Usually you just get the baby teeth pulled when your pup is spaied/neutered because then they don't have to go under anestisia (sp) more then once. |
This is a very common problem in the smaller yorkies and sometimes the bigger ones. They usually end up at the vets getting them pulled if they have not fallen out on their own by a certain age. |
Coco Looks like a Shark!! Coco is only 4 1/2 months old and she has a second row of teeth growing in behind her baby teeth. I always call her Jaws because she sticks her mouth out of the bag I carry her in and looks like a shark attacking...but now she even has the teeth to match! hehehe |
The baby teeth should probably be removed around 7 months as this can push the other teeth out of line. Many of the short muzzled, small mouth dogs have problems with teeth. Just happens. Same number of teeth, smaller mouths. If a young puppy and you note this you have a couple of months with something to chew to help get them out and much of the time it works but not always. I believe the teeth pulling is worse than a male being neutered....seems like there is more pain with teeth extractions. Poor babies! |
