Flaky Skin I was playing with my yorkie last night and I noticed white flakes along both sides of his head. So I looked around his ears and noticed at the edge of both of his ears his skin is flaking. It looks like he has dandruff. What can cause this? I bathe him with baby shampoo. I read that this can dry out their skin but I have been bathing him with this for 4 months, since I got him, every week and his skin was never dry like this. He eats Evolve dry food mixed with Nutro Natural. I haven't changed anything in his diet. The only diference I can think of is this week I bathed him twice, meaning I wet him, lathered him up, rinsed and repeated. So any ideas on what caused this and how can I cure it? |
Sorry I don't have any info to give you but just to let you know Daisy has this too. I hope someone can give some advice. |
Flaky skin Sea Meal by Solid Gold completely got rid of all the dandruff. It is an excellent vitamin/mineral supplement. You can get it at Solidgoldhealth.com or any specialty pet store that may carry it. An 8 oz. bottle will last me a year. I do put it on a small bite of turkey to get Jazzy to eat it. He loves it. |
I use Grizzly Salmon Oil and it stopped any flaking on my gang. |
Thanks, I need to buy some. Does anyone know what causes this? |
Fudgerina's skin problem Hi, Hoping someone can help, our lil Fudge is 8 years old and never had a single problem but all of a sudden over the last week she has had dandruff, when we looked a bit closer we found some scabs on her skin, these scabs have then healed but we have then found some more further down her back. Does anyone know what this is? Thanks |
Flaky skin Jazzy's dandruff, greasy coat was seborrhea sicca. It is caused from poor nutrition. When I adopted him a year ago, the previous owners were feeding him Old Roy. I changed his dog food and added the sea meal. No problems since. |
I used some oatmeal shampoo last week and the flakes seem to be less. Could it just be caused because I was using baby shampoo? If so then is it best to stop using that and start using a shampoo for dry skin? |
