Lazy Eye
 

I've had Pancake for a week and a half, she is 10 weeks old. Last night she was biting on a cord and worried she would bite through and get a shock I pulled the cord away perhaps to quickly and I think I hurt her. It was weird what she did after i snatched it, she sort of turned her neck at a weird angle back to her shoulder and kept her mouth open. This lasted for about 2 or 3 seconds. At first I thought it was her teeth I hurt, but last night I thought I saw her eye wander. I took her to the vet today (unrelated, her nose was running, scrathcing her ears) and I didn't think to mention it. I was playing fetch with her again tonight and I definitly noticed the lazy eye. The right eye was wandering off up and to the left. When I try to pull the toy from her, her eye seems to wander. So I stopped playing with her because I got scared. Did I cause this, I searched the forum and to my suprise found nothing on lazy eyes. If I didn't cause this, will it only get worse. My relative has a lazy eye that seems to wander when she is stressed and has only gotten worse over the years. Any advice? Should I take her back to the vet? She's so tiny and I've always been scared I might hurt her by a mistake. :(

aww poor pancake :( Unfortunately I don't have any information on lazy eyes. But I would definately ask your vet. At least then you would know for sure

Hi and welcome to YT! I would take her to the vet and ask about it, maybe you can call and see if they can tell you anything over the phone just to calm you a bit until you can get her there. Hugs and kisses to Pancake

Thanks for the replies! Well, just wanted you to know I took Pancake back to the vet, she looked at her eyes and said they were fine. I'm not sure if they do wander when she is tugging on toys or if it just looks like it. The vet also said dogs could have wandering eyes just like humans do, but I've been looking closely at Pancake's and they seem okay. I think I was just being a little paranoid! New mommy, can't be too careful :)

That is such good news, I know what it is to be a worry wart, I think a lot of us are that way but it is always best to be safe than sorry (as that old saying goes).
How old is Pancake now? That is really a cute name. What a joy they are, you have a lot of great times to look forward to with her. Patti ~~Baby Blessing~~

Poo - How little is your pup. My vet (when mentioning some of the things that are often problems with "very small" little Yorkies) mentioned something about their eyes not being right and gave me a look with one of his eyes "off somewhere" trying to show me what they look like. He said he sees a lot of this.

Has your pup always had this problem?
