need ideas on cooking For Rocco, I just got him this last weekend ,he is almost 2.She has been feeding him beneful. I'm not real thrilled about that food. Can some give me ideas on making him and Shadow(senior yorkie) their food? I know meat, like chicken, what kind of beef? Veggies, rice too maybe? Please help! TIA |
We feed Punkin a whole bunch of different things: lamb, chicken, beef (anykind), turkey Veggies (, peppers, yellow/green beans, peas etc) Fruit (strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, banana, apple etc) Whole Wheat pasta, brown rice, home cooked plain oatmeal, potatoes (cooked only), sweet potatoes We don't feed citrus fruit, pork, onions, grapes, mushrooms Garlic only in small small quantities as it's from the onion family Small quantities of brocoli and cauliflower every once in a while I have recently started giving her small amounts of cottage cheese and plain yogurt (started at 1/4 of a teaspoon a day and now give 1 teaspoon twice a day), also a small pich of salt and a 1/4 teaspoon of canola oil twice daily. We currently (at vet's advice) give her 1/3 meat, 1/3 starch, 1/3 fruits/veggies. The physical amount varies, depending on her activity level that day. There are a whole bunch of different views on the subject, and many books. What we are doing is really working well for our furbaby (who is 10.5 months) I usually freeze enough food for a week or two so it doesn't feel like I'm always cooking for the dog. Also I save some of our unseasoned food for her as well. This is probably more info than you were looking for, but once I started typing I couldn't stop. :D Alexis & Punkin |
