Anyone Have Pet insurance? Since my babies go to the vet very often :( .. i was opting to get pet insurance. any one have pet insurace? any good companies? i was going to go with veterinary pet insurance http://www.petinsurance.com/ any suggestions? |
I have Banfield pet insurance, but you can only use it at Banfield, and they don't have emergency office visits. It is a decent plan, but I plan on changing next year when it comes time to change Cordelia over to the adult plan. |
I use petinsurance.com, so far it's been good, but I've only had emma for 5 months. My sister has used it for 2.5 years and reccomends it. |
I highlry recomment pet insurance! I have vpi pet insurance and love it. I have to pay up front but they reimburse so much! Simon had emergency surgery to remove a tumor in his belly last December and the bill was $1700! Insurance covered $1500 so I think it is absolutely worth it. They also cover all vaccinations which is a plus, especially having 2 dogs. |
I heard on another forum that some people thought VPI was a rip off  so i don't know what to do! for those that do have vpi, where are you from and what plan do you have? the standard or superior plan? |
My experience with pet insurance is that you usually pay way more for it than you need to and for what you would be paying wihout it. You would hve to do the cost vs. benefit analysis yourself to dtermine if it were worth it. How much are the premiums? |
the thing is, im thinking i should get it because my yorkies go to the vet VERY often! i try to keep them in tip top shape, but they are so small and fragile. the superior plan covers a wide variety of things. the cost depends on the pet because i got a quote and Ginger was only 29.99 a month and Oreo was 32 something a month.. the plans sound really good considering that i take them to the vet a lot.. so i really am considering it, but would like more input towards VPI. |
I don't know anything about the policy, but Max's AKC registration comes with a "60-day trial pet healthcare insurance plan" (underwritten by National Specialty Insurance Company). I'm supposed to get more info after his AKC registration is complete, but here's what I found online: pet ins free trial |
Vpi I have had VPI since Simon was a puppy, he was very sick for 4 months and they covered so much. When I rescued Hallie I got her a plan too and they offer a small discount when you have 2 pets. I personally haven't had any problems with them. Simon has a lot of stomach problems and goes to the vet fairly often and certainly the reimbursement I got from his surgery was a godsend. Also they cover issues like ear infections, eye problems, vaccinations, I really like them. They also cover emergency things, this summer Hallie got stung by a bee and had to see an emergency vet and get medicine and they covered that as well. I'm sure that it is just like everything else, you have to research and see what the consensus is and what you think will work for you. My previous vet in Alaska recommended them so I got it and have kept with them. I wish my little man was too healthy to need insurance but he isn't so I keep it. Good luck on your insurance research!! Kim, Simon and Hallie |
Well i'm still doing some research.. a co-worker is is an animal lover like myself! she has pet insurance. Banfield to be exact. sounds great! but anyone have any experiences with them? |
