Sneezing Hi All, I am new here, and also new to owning Yorkies. I have 2, 6 month old male Yorkie brothers. Dexter & Fletcher. Recently Fletcher has been sneezing alot. I am wondering if this is common to the breed or if he may have a slight cold, or is allergic to something. Should I take him to the vet or wait a few days to see if it passes? Thanks for any help you can recommend! |
Welcome to YT! IMO if that is the only symptom, I would keep an eye on him. It might be allergies. If he doesn't get any better or his brother starts, head for the vet. |
Thanks for the advice!! |
Sneezing 1 Attachment(s) Hi My Tessa Sneezes Alot I Think It's The Dust And Ciggs Smoke Not Good For Any Dogs To Be Around. So I Dont Let No One Smoke In My Home. |
I have 2, 6 month old Female Yorkie sisters. Lola and Lily. It's so much fun having siblings! Crazy too...but fun. The girls trade off on who is going to sneeze more one day to the next. I think it is dust that gets to them. They are so close to the floor, anything can get in their noses. |
Hi We are new to Yorkies as well. We got Toby from a rescue centre about 5 weeks ago. He was sneezing so much we took him to the Vet and they put him on powder to dry up the mucus and antibiotics. It did clear up most of it but we also found that he sneezed more if he had been in my daughter's room which is very dusty and smoky (shes a typical teenager). Now he does what we have learnt to know as 'Hurfing'! It's a backward sneeze and cough, usually caused when the trachea goes into spasm (apparently very common for Yorkies), which happens when her gets excited or barks too much. Lou |
OOOHhh they are sooo much fun! I adore my boys!!! I think maybe you are right... dust gets to them! My house is hard flooring, not carpeting so dust piles up easily and rolls across the floor and since I clean the floors once a week I'm sure they the 4th or 5th day the dogs are sneezing cuz of dust! :D Thank you, that makes perfect sense... |
