Hello my fellow Yorkiteers :aimeeyork

I know, I know....it's been a while since my last post but, I do logon when I need to....Like now.!!! :eek: I am having a problem searching for info in depth about females and their periods.

My baby Trinket (who alot of you guys on here named) has gotten "The Big Red" It's not heavy but she often licks her privates and I don't want it to get irritated. (So, I will buy some diapers) But, I was looking for info like:

How long does it usually last?
After their menses, do they usually go into heat?
and What do you guys do during that month?

Any info is greatly appreciated.

When they swell and bleed, it's considered a heat. You can expect this to last around 21 days...3 weeks. During the second week, she'll lighten up in color and this is when she will be fertile. If you're not going to breed her, then keep all males away from her. It only takes a couple of seconds.

Hey, it's not dumb. It is uninformed. How in the world would anyone learn anything if they didn't ask? You aren't born knowing everything, you have to be taught by someone. That is what is so good about YT, there are informed, experienced people here who can answer your questions, so that you will now be informed and able to take care of your pup. Good for you for asking something you didn't know.

Hi I have a male and female yorkie. Rocko 7mo. and Coco 4mo..My vet said that is won't get her first heat until around 8mo. My concern is that she may go into heat earlier . I know to wait until she is 2 or over. They love [most of the time]being together. Sometime they sleep together. Should I stop that? Any advise is welcome.Toria

Martini is 9 months and she is in heat. she has mellowed out a little bit but I catch her hunching (sp) Remy. Is this normal? Please advise.

Hello,
My fiona is having her period. I was surprised because she is not 8 months yet. I see little drops. But my question is while this is happening...do I put something on her? I don't want her to hurt herself if she is licking herself so much.
