While she's sleeping I try to pick them off. When I bathe her once a week I use the comb to comb them out. She doesn't like it too much, but she tolerates it more when she's in the shower. :) |
omg they can cause sores. how long does it take b4 sores develop. i'm worried because sometimes it doesn't all come off. |

I wash my yorkies faces daily with a wet cloth and use a flea comb to get the eye boggies off. My pups hated being groomed but now they are used to it and sit nicely on my lap while its being done. They do get used to it and and does get easier. :) |
thanx for the advice. it is very helpful! :) |
I wash this off about 4 times a week. It does get easier, I use a warm washcloth and use different sides for each eye. Your pup will get use to it and settle down if you do it often enough. |
I thought I read somewhere if you feed them certain food it stopped the eyes from running like that....Is that true??? Zoey does't like hers cleaned either, my husband says I am always picking at her. |
That is the one thing I let my fiance do. I can clean up poop, throwup, anything else, but not the eye gunk. Princess face always gets so messy like 5 minutes after he brushes her face and eyes. I always tell him that if there were a DSS for dogs they would take Princess away for looking so messy :p |
LOL That is funny !! I don't like it much either...I use a fine lil flea comb it works great. |
I clean Simba's face every day as well. He isn't crazy about it but I started to give him a special treat I know he loves, like cheese, afterwards. Now it's worth it for him=) |
just keep at it. he'll get used to it after a while. bunjee didn't like it at first either but he got used to it after a month or so. now i'm trying to get him not to struggle or run away as i clip his nails... |

I use the warm washcloth/flea comb combo as well - and Oakley doesn't fidget too much. I try to wash his eye area every other day. Clipping his nails - that's another story :-( |
