Dry Skin and dull coat I have two yorkies, both 1 year old females. Lola is my darker baby with the usual gold and Sophie is my Blondie with a silver back. Sophie has very dry skin and her hair is dull and coarse, but only on the silver colored hair. Her blonde hair appears shiny and is soft to touch. I feed them Chicken Soup for the dog Lovers soul, which is a holistic brand of dog food. Any suggestions to get her hair shiny would be appreciated! Thanks! (p.s. I tried the gravy with Omega Fatty Acids and I still saw no improvement) |

Her hair use to be all dark and just recently she turned silver and that is when we noticed her coarse hair. I am unsure which shampoos and conditioners are being used since we take them to the groomers. When we get her home from the groomers their skin looks good and their hair is soft until 2 days later. Thanks for your help! |
I have the same problem with my 9 mo yorkie maile. The vet recommended switching dog food, and if I did not want to, she said fish oil is a great idea to place on their coat. She told me weather, and the heat in your home may be doing this as well. |

I believe she meant the oil on the coat. I would call your vet to ask. I didnt get into detail bc I decided to change his food first and see how that goes. |
I have never heard of Fish Oil on the coat but I do put Salmon Oil in their food and it has helped my gangs skin and coat. Oil is not a good thing to put on a Yorkies coat  |
I didnt get into detail with my vet, I had other things on my mind. I would def check with the vet. I dont have any plan of using oil until I change the food. She could have meant in the food... |
