Another food question...shrimp? I've seen several threads and websites about what foods are good and bad for dogs but I don't think I've seen anything mentioned about shrimp, fish and seafood. We eat alot of shrimp and fish and the boys are always interested but I haven't given them any because I'm just not sure. Does anyone know if they're o.k. or of a website that mentions seafood? |
Good question! |
Pixie loves shrimp! We always get a couple pounds of it for New Years and she got her fair share. Whether it's good for them or not, I don't know, but she didn't get sick or anything. Edited to say: She also shares my sushi with me. Again, no bad reactions so far.... |
I have given Cali and Maya little bits of shrimp with no problems. |
I have never given my dogs shrimp but I have given them fish. |

Thanks everyone...I might let them try a little bite the next time. I've heard tuna is too high in protein for dogs so I wondered about other fish/seafood too. |
I give mine bites of seafood alot. I would be careful with extremely fatty fish(salmon) I do know someone whos tiny got pancreatitis after easting some. |
That's a good question...I don't know if dogs have allergic reactions to some seafoods like people do...and I would also consider the Iodine content of Shellfish.....I have never given my girls shrimp or any seafood but now I got a Jones for some after reading this and I know just where a Shrimptruck parks on the weekends :) |
