My sisters yorkie is throwing up his food has been for awhile now... The vet put him on a special diet for his tummy... they've ran a bunch of tests, no liver shunt...they think maybe eating too fast...keeps water down just not food...has anyone had experiences w/this? Anyone have any suggestions as to what is wrong? Any help would be appreciated.. Thanks Tashia |
I know I have had some that just wolfed their food down, so at that time I just started feeding them from my hand till they got the hang of not porking their food. Now all is fine and they eat normal. Not saying this could be the problem but she might try this and see if it works for her. Does she have other dogs with this one? Cause if she does maybe this one thinks it has to eat fast or it won't get anything to eat, or it could be that's how it was with it's litter mates. Eat fast or get no food. |

bump for more advice? |
I do know of a Yorkie who had the same problem but that diagnosis was megalo-esophagus..I don't usually recommmend hand-feeding but she might try putting a teaspoon of food down at a time and feed several times a day. How old is the dog? Is it thriving? What tests were done? I am not asking you to post private info on here so feel free to PM me is you would rather..\Hope the little one does better. |
I have two dogs that I try to feed at the same time. A 21-pound Bichon and my 6 1/2 pound Yorkie. My Yorkie always runs over and gulps down the Bichon's food and then goes back and starts on his own. (My sweet Bichon just stands there and watches his food disappear.) What a pig! I am surprised that he hasn't thrown up -- but he hasn't. Now I hold my Yorkie or put him away in another room, so that the other dog can eat. Fun! Fun! Carol Jean |
