How many spoons?! I think I read sommwhere that the general rule of thumb is that yorkies should eat 1 tablespoon of per lb of bodt weight at each feeding. Does anyone know anything about this? That would mean Hayley should eat 6 tablespoons at a time!!!! For her that is a lot!! what do ya guys think? I donr want her over fed not under fed |
I have heard that too. After I did the math and the converting, it said that Thor should be eating two cups a day! He gets 1/2 in the morning and 1/2 at night. He never finishes all his food, and he gets treats throughout the day. Maybe its more accurate with larger dogs?? It's seems like over estimating how much food they should get. |
I'm lucky to het Cali to eat 6 tablespoons a day and she's 4 lbs. |
Ok this may sound bad, but I don't measure. I free feed my little munchkin and she knows just how much her little body needs. She doesn't gorge or anything. |
vainchick5, Miko is just like Coco...It's like his body knows how much he needs. He never over eats at all. We measure out what he's "supposed" to eat just to make sure he's eating enough...but he has food available at ALL times. :) |
I free feed Chewy too and he never really over eats, except when I give him the meat rolls. Then he can eat till he burst  |
I would think that "level tablespoons" would be almost no food at all -- whereas "heaping tablespoons" could be two or three times the same amount of food. Things like this are really very general rules. The amount of food that a dog eats depends on many other factors - such as their activity level, their age, their health, etc. I have always fed my dogs the amount of food they eat reasonably quickly at one sitting. If they walk away leaving some of the food, they have probably been given a too much. If your dog isn't over or underweight - I don't see any problem anyway. Carol Jean |
I free feed mine and they never over eat. |
