I feed my dogs and cats Flint River Ranch Flint River Ranch uses only wholesome ingredients. No by-products, commercial meals, products contaminated with chemicals, or any chemical preservative. I know there are other health pet foods that are essentially human quality. The difference is in the processing. Flint River prepares the food and then oven bakes it. This process changes the molecular structure of the starches into an "easier to digest" form. There is less stress to the digestive system and, to my knowledge, this is the only company using this process. My holistic vet say's the change in a pet's health is almost always noticeable within a short time. The food is very concentrated and highly digestible resulting in less digestive health problems and smaller stools to clean up. :D Flint River also is very compact - so you feed a whole lot less than other foods and it costs no more, usually less, to feed than any premium commercial food. I feed 1/4 cup a day to each dog. And my Yorkies love it - :aimeeyork :aimeeyork the Flint River company has never had a "bloat" claim against it. The great manufacturing process that is used prevents this. The oven-baking and "cracked kibbles" only absorb enough moisture to start the digestion process, then they break down. Other meals/products, continue to absorb a great amount of water. from Flint River you can get them to send you some sample packs if you want to first let your little Yorkie try it out. It looks so unlike any other food you have ever seen before because it is twice baked and then broken into pieces, so the pieces are not some uniform size and shape. And you can add water to it if you want - I don't. my vet says that nutrition is a major key to unlocking the puzzles of many of the health problems animals have. Many musculoskeletal disorders, digestive complaints, allergies and skin problems can respond to proper nutrition. I normally feed Flint River Ranch Puppy & Adult Kibble Dog Food - with at least 37 ingredients including chicken, whole wheat flour, ground rice, lamb meal and fish meal. this last time, I bought Flint River Ranch Trout & Potato - it has Trout, Potato, Course Ground Millet, Herring Meal, Oatmeal and Sweet Potatoes for the first 5 ingredients and also cranberries and blueberries in it. This is shaped differently from the puppy & adult food I described above - the trout & potato looks more like any other regular food - I think the puppy/adult formula took them longer to eat - which I think is a good thing! For treats the Yorkies get carrots and apples and Buddy Biscuits from Cloud Star - these are all natural treats - they come in a variety of flavors - my dogs love the sweet potato ones (see www.cloudstar.com ) |

I really lucked out! I noticed Bobby just picked at his food at the pet store and he seemed rather thin. They were apparently feeding Eukanuba Puppy because they wanted me to buy a bag. I didn't since he didn't seem all that into it anyway. Well, he came home and immediately started chowing on the Nutro Max I feed my bulldog! He LOVES it! I bought some Nutro Puppy but he doesn't like that nearly as well so I combine the two in the bowl. So far, so good! For snacks, he's getting the Nutro Puppy Drumsticks. Julie |
Food....................... I feed mine a variety. I use what I consider top of the line dog foods. I have done tons of research on dog foods. I think that different dog foods offer different nutrients. So, I feed them Artemis, Burns, Natural Balance, Flint River, and Innova. I don't feed them all at one time, but I do rotate them every few weeks. I also feed mine a small amount of canned food every evening with Missing Link Supplement. My boys do fine on them. I give them buddy biscuits, baby carrots (sliced up) and apples (little bite size) for snacks. They also like peas, green beans, yellow squash, zuccini, and boiled chicken (white meat). About once a week (maybe two weeks) I give them a little cottage cheese and scramble eggs. I have just bought some of the freeze dried ice cream to try for an extra little treat. The ice cream I learned about on YT. Whoo-Hoo! :) One of the problems I have found with different dry foods is the kibbles are to big for our furbabies. :aimeeyork |

Do you feed the Artemis Small Breed? That's one of the foods I feed my girls, and the kibble is so tiny, that even my little Kia eats it with no problem. Sheila |
Roxi get merrick wet and innova evo dry! |
Lex came to me eating Royal Canin 33 puppy food. But I find it's a tad harder for me to find and I tend to have to drive a good way out to buy it. So I purchased Nutro Natural Chicken Meal, Rice and Oatmeal Formual. I only feed him dry food. I am in the stage of mixing them to wean him off the Royal Canin. I got this one because it has small amounts of glucosamine which is very good for their joints. My dad's dog is older and has arthritis and the vet prescribes that for him. Plus this bad boy has oatmeal which is very good for their coat. So far so good...no stomach upset or potty issues. :aimeeyork |
