questions on teething
 
bunjee is starting to lose his baby teeth and i've so many questions!!!

- i noticed there's a little bleeding in his gums where one of his teeth is loose. is that normal?
- many of his teeth are starting but i don't see new teeth coming in just yet. so he's just got gums where his baby teeth were. is that normal?
- he's losing mostly front teeth, but as he loses more should i start feeding him wet food instead of dry food only?
- bunjee never liked me checking his teeth, but lately he's been really really adament about not showing me his mouth and teeth. should i keep trying despite his protests or wait until his teething is over?

Try putting dry kibble in a chopper and grinding it up. Then add water to it to make a thick paste. See if she'll eat it like that. It'll be much softer.

loose teeth
 
I am very new to yorkies. My yorkie, Belle, has very very loose bottom incisors. I hope this is normal too. How long until her new permanent teeth come in?

Sounds normal to me..... A couple of Pixie's little front teeth fell out before the adults came in. I think it was about another two weeks before they started poking through. I've also noticed a bit of blood when I brush her teeth, which wasn't happening before. I'm assuming it's because she has a couple loose/missing teeth.

If you notice he's having a hard time crunching his kibble I'd probably soften it up a bit, but otherwise IMO, I wouldn't worry about it.

I'd keep checking his teeth whether he likes it or not. That way you can find anything that may be an issue in the future...
Although my pup has lost a few, she's retained her canines (she now has 4 of 'em on the bottom!!) along with a couple of her back molars. I'm going to have to get the vet to pull 'em or they'll end up causing problems. :rolleyes:

If they are losing their baby teeth - I wouldn't feed them anything or do anything to discourage this loss. I think it often more of a problem when they take too long to lose their baby teeth ....then they often have to have them pulled.

You're lucky they are coming out easily on their own. This will be so much better for the permanent teeth when they come through.
