Mucus like loose Bowel My precious gracie 11 months old every now and then will have filmy like yellow and brown loose bowel. This morning there was traces of blood in it. I just keep being told that it is just stress or a change in her enviroment. Does anyone know anything else? She was Spayed last week about 10days agoand she seems to have recovered from that fine. Also Gracie's skin is very dry and flakey I have tried oil in her food and tha seems not to have worked. I am wondering could this be caused form human shampoo? |
Is it your vet that is telling you it is stress or enviroment? Have they checked a sample? I would take the newest sample and take it to another vet if they are not giving you any answers. What type of shampoo do you use? Is it baby shampoo or adult? Does she act fine it's just worrying you because it happens every once in a while? |
I agree with Reagan, you need to take a sample to the vet. How often does this happen? It sounds like coccitia to me or at least an intestinal problem. This is usually what happens with a dog with coccitia. What food are you feeding your little one? I am a believer of using dog shampoo and conditioner so I am not sure if this is from human shampoo. A lot of human shampoo strips the oils from the dog. I use coathandlers shampoo and conditioner. |
Cali just got out of the ER vet for severe diahhrea with blood and mucous and vomiting. They are checking for Liver shunt because she ahs a couple of other indications, but they also did a fecal test which was negative for parasites but they put her on an antibiotic and a wormer just in case the sample didn't show any parasites. I would definately run a stool sample to your vet. Good Luck |
Thank You All SOOOOO MUCH. It is great that i have found this web site, the support is great. I am going to do the stool sample for sure. Thank You. It is adult shampoo that i was using soi will try the stuff you suggested. and I think it is alot of me worrying because it is just every now and then but I would like to know more detail so I will do the sample. Thank You |

My vet says the mucus and loose stools can be caused by drainage from an upper respiratory infection. He treats it with anti-biotics. You should definitely take a sample to the vet if you see blood in it. My older Yorkie had a bout with this, and became lathargic and dehydrated and ended up in the hospital with and IV & high levels of antibiotics. Better safe than sorry, contact your vet A.S.A.P. I could save you money in the long run. The overnight stay and IV were expensive. |
