veT question hii i justt got my lil pixie about a week ago she is 7 weeks. The man i bought it from said that i shouldnt bring her to the vet to get shots because since they are little dogs they get more sick. I really think i should bring her. She went for a check up that day i got her from the breeder and he gave me a paper from the vet . But when should i bring her to get her shots and about how much are they . Also she seems to be really viscous when she plays with her toyss is that normal ?tHanKss |
I think you SHOULD take her to a vet ASAP. Yorkies are little dogs, but they still need their vacinations! Esme already had her first two or three sets of shots when we got her at 12 weeks. I took her the vet the day after I brought her home even though she had been checked out by the breeders vet for two reasons. First, because I wanted MY vet to look at her and make sure everything was okay and also, my breeder required that my vet look at her within 48 hours, it was in the contract. Esme had three more vet visits and shots each time. Each visit was around $45 to $75.I really think you should take her to your vet! Mari |
Go to the Vet. Immediately! Ditto! Take it ASAP.!! Regardless of what your Breeder said, that is personal preference. But if there is anything wrong with your Puppy? It's best to catch it sooner than later. Prices for shots/exams vary from state to state or even in different cities. Cost really shouldn't be the issue....most Vets. will work something out if they need to? |
Puppies being brought to a new home may go under quite a bit of stress. I have spoken to some breeders who feel it is best to wait for a week after bringing the pup home to have any vaccinations. |
48 hr. Deadline? Well, I don't know about anyone else but in my case I had a 48 hr. deadline by my Breeder to take him to the Vet. it was specifically mentioned in the contract. Good thing during the first Vet. visit we found out he had Kennel Cough, tape worms and an ear infection, besides not being groomed, his nails had never been clipped/trimmed and he was 20 weeks old! After I had confronted my Breeder regarding his condition, she claimed that was all normal. A Health Certificate accompanied him on paper he seemed perfectly fine, but in reality he was not! :animal-sm |
Artie If your puppy had a health certificate, I would contact the vet who issued it and give them a list of the pups problems and tell them you are making a complaint to the DVM asscociation. |
I had a 48 hour requirement to take my pup to the vet also. He said no shots during the 1st 2 weeks transitional time. |
In Flight? I couldn't make any kind of complaints, my Breeder claims all his ailments were contracted somehow during his flight to me? My Breeders Vet. that issued the Health Certicate claims that it is not lifetime gaurentee, that it claims his health @ the time it was issued only, sounds like BS. to me! |

Artie- I agree!!! I would complain!!! Its bad enough that you poor dog had all these problems. It really takes alot of nerve for the breeder and vet to then send him on a flight in his condition. Unruly for sure!!!! |

Maybe offer a special night-night time toy to keep her busy in her crate for awhile. And make sure she has had her potty break before heading to the crate also helps. |
