Question about irratated face...from dogfood?
 
I have noticed around Chicas upper lip area that her hair seems to have lessened. She seems to be rubbing her face after she eats. Could she be having some sort of reaction to the dog food? I feed her Pedigree canned and dry food.
Any info would be great.

Corn is the main ingrediant in the dry pedigree. It does cause itching and allergies. It is a horrible food but I have to give it to my pug and my poodle because they won't eat anything else. they both itch like crazy. I have tried to change them and they go for days without eating. i wouldn't give that food to my yorkies for anything. can you try something else? Try to get something that doesn't have corn listed in the top three ingrediants. My yorkies are eating Science Diet nature's Best. Contrary to what someone on here posted the other day, corn is not the main ingrediant in Nature's best. It is in the other Science Diet foods but not nature's best. Corn gluten is listed as the seventh ingred. It is natural with meat, fruits and veggies. Has all the same stuff that Chicken Soup for the Puppy Lover's Soul has. I feed Cser's for wet but they are slowly getting away from the wet and I am glad. ceser's isn't all that good either.

What kind of bowl do you use? I have heard that plastic bowls can cause skin serious irritation...

Pixie has alot of allergies, itches and pulls out her hair. I changed her food to Royal Canin Ultra Blend Holistic, contains no corn gluten, some of their other products do and mix this with California lamb and rice with a smidge of boiled chicken mixed in and moistened. I give her Natural Balance Duck and Potato treats. I tried so many dog foods and ended up giving them to the local dog shelter after they didn't work for Pixie. They were so appreciative.
She is doing so much better.

Thanks so much for the info on corn. I'm going to go to Petsmart this wknd. and get her something without it or at the lower bottom as ya'll suggested. Thanks again and I'll let you know if I notice a difference. I used to use a plastic bowl but she wouldn't eat out of it so now I feed her on a new paper plate each night.

I feed Cali off a new paper plate each time. She also was eating Cesars because I ahve tried everything else. Now she will only eat ground beef with a little wet food mixed in. She too rubs her face after she eats.
