OK ladies i GAVE IN !!!!!! I bet everyone remembers the No to Lil Ceasar's thread and how i tried to defend Lil Ceasar's until i was blue in the face. Well it was bugging me that people were saying that Lil Ceasar's is the equivalent to eating McDonalds every day becaue that's what i feed my Yorkies on top of Royal Canin. So throughout the last week I did some research on the net and also went to several different pet food stores to get their opinion on Lil Ceasar's and what do ya know? Every single pet food store manager said that Lil Ceasar's is the equivalent to eating McDonalds  So I just got back from the pet food store and bought Merrick's wet and dry dog food. I have never seen my dogs go so crazy for a food before. So far they have only had Merrick's Grammy's Pot Pie but it was a huge hit and makes me feel better to know that my Yorkies are getting a better diet. It isn't cheap though. The dry food is the same price as Royal Canin but the cans of wet are $3.00 each  Oh well, as long as it's healthier! I still have nothing against Lil Ceasar's and will probably give them a tin once in awhile but I do FINALLY agree that it isn't a good long term diet food. Thanks to everyone who opened my eyes :) |
I'm glad that what ever it took...your little guys are eating healthier now! Nice story, thanks for sharing! |
I give Gus Cesar select dinners. Is that the same thing as Lil Ceasar's ? He loves it but I don't like to feed it to him all the time. I did not know it was not good for them. The reason I don't like to give it everyday is because of his teeth. I take pride in doing my best to keep his teeth clean and that Cesar's gets them so dirty! And I only give him half each feeding. Even with a bisket they are still dirty. We spend quite a bit of time brushing his teeth after he eats Cesar's |

I thought it was good for them but doing research and listening to everyone on YT i realized that it's not as good as i thought. :( |
I was feeding Cali cesars and my Pom has been eating it for 9 years only thing they would eat. After that thread I bought Merricks wet my pom loves it Cali will eat it mixed with hamburger. I fully switched them to it yesterday and Cali has been throwing up and having diahrrea. I hope it's not the food. Maya is fine. But the vet thinks it may be liver shunt. Last night she ate her food and for some reason Maya didn't eat hers so Cali ate some of hers too. |

it over 4 or 5 days. Start with mostly the former food 4/5 old food 1/5 new 3/5 , 2/5 and so on. If you change all at once it very often causes diahrrea. Hope that helps |
I'm so glad your babies accepted a new and better type of food! Yea, I say poo on lil ceasars too.. to many yucky ingredients.. hehe but I've never heard it refered to as the same as mcdonalds but I think it's true now that I think about it lol |
Here is a link I posted about what is in By-products. High fat content and many other nasty things like diseased animals are used. If you want to feed your little one good meat you have to look for the key words "human grade". You can do a google search on (By-products in dog food) to really research it yourself. :) http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=30005 |
On the Merricks (which my dogs love) did you notice on their website they offer free shipping. I am not sure if this would apply to Canada but you might check it out as the cans would them be less than $2.00. I pay $1.96 here in town. |
Athina, you should give yourself a pat on the back for doing an independent study on the dog food. We all need to be as diligent to see that our furkids are getting the very best nutritrion. |
Great job Athina :) We are so proud :p |
Wow that is pricey for wet food, bet it's great for them though. Never really heard of that brand except for on here. Where do you find it? I know it's not at Petsmart. Great job switching. :) |
