Heartworm Meds It has been a while posting on here. We lost our dear Kinder Nov. 11,2024 and my husband and I were so heartbroken. Well we did go on and now we have a beautiful five month old Yorkshire terrier named Kinlee. She is a healthy little kid and is almost three pounds. My question is our vet put her on Tri Heart Plus for dogs under twenty five pounds. Is this a safe heartworm med for such a little puppy. All my past little angels always got sick on this stuff so I quit giving them it. We live in Arizona and we do not let her on the ground outside. What do you suggest to give my puppy? Thanks for reading my post. |
I am sorry I didn't see this before. I use Heartgard and have for years. I have never had a problem with it. My smallest weighs 4 lbs. Hope this helps. |
Meds Thank you Lady Jane for answering my question I really appreciate it. |
I need to find something also. My yorkies (2) got seizures from Nexgard Plus. We are in the process of trial and error now. This month am trying Interceptor (not the plus). |
All my past yorkshire terriers got sick on Heartguard. This last one I gave our puppy worked well but I think I am going to go back on my Sentinal Flavor Tabs. I never had an issue with this and I like that you can buy it for two to ten pounds. You could look this one up. Hope this helps! |
As a rescuer, I have given heartworm preventatives to more yorkies than I can count over the course of over 20 years and have never had one have an issue with Heartgard. I have also used Sentinel on some with no issues. You cannot compare the dosing of the two...they are entirely different. |
