Weight at 12 weeks Hello! Just curious as to what other yorkies weighed in at when 12 weeks old. My daughter works at the vet and came home telling me they dont think Flint is pure yorkie since he weighed in at 4lbs. He isn't akc registered and I took the breeders word and saw what she said were the parents... Honestly, no matter how big he gets, he's a part of our family and will be loved all the same.💓 It would be cool to see comparisons and honestly I hope he's at the least 8lbs when grown. |
Weight can't determine if a yorkie is pure bred or not. Ollie is my biggest at 16 pounds and has AKC papers. Yorkies used to be bigger then what they are now they have been bred down. It is all about genetics and more then just parents and grandparents you have to go way back. I didn't have Ollie until 5 months so I have no idea what he weighed at 12 weeks. The breeder couldn't "get rid" of him and he was bigger then his parents and siblings by 5 months. I love bigger yorkies and the misfits of the yorkie community so I took him. Dixie was 3 pounds at 8 weeks and is 12 pounds now a year and a half old. Joey was around 3 pounds at 9 weeks and he is 16 pounds supposed to be 15 at almost 6 years old. I didn't get Penny until 8 months but she is sitting at 15 pounds at 5 years old. Ollie is my only one with reputable papers but that doesn't really bother me I just use them as a birth certificate. |
Yeah what you said about weight and being pure bred or not is what I told my daughter. I love your message to me and I thank u. His weight doesn't bother me. Its more I just want to show her there are differences or there are not and it doesnt mean a yorkie isn't a yorkie. Bigger or smaller, they all capture our hearts the same.😄 Quote:

Flint is precious....I just saw the pic of him in the snow. :) |
My last girl weighed in at 17 lbs, pure AKC registered pup. I have a side view photo of her in my album, sleek body, she was 12 years old in that photo. Size matters not in yorkies. My adopted boy weighs 12 lbs, I adore the smaller yorkies but prefer the bigger ones, they are not so frail. After having a 17lb yorkie for 17 years my 12 lb boy is tiny to me lol. |
