Flaky Skin Hi everyone, my 4 yr old yorkie has an oily coat but dry flaky skin like dandruff. He’s sleeping not been with me a few weeks and the vet with the rescue gave me a soap to use 2-3 times a week Keratolux since I’ve had him he’s been to the groomer and they have him an oatmeal bath and I had his hair cut very short. He’s NOT itchy just flaky. Has anyone encountered this and have any suggestions? Thnx!! |
My yorkies get a little flaky too so I use yourkie splash and shine and make sure to use the conditioner and it helps. It might be something you want to bring up with your vet. If the shampoo at the groomer helped then you might want to use what they used. |

One of my fosters is like that. His hair is super oily and skin flaky...but, he also has itching from it. He has to be bathed once/week...sometimes twice; and he gets cytopoint injections every 4 - 6 weeks for the itching. I use this shampoo which really helps: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Here is a link about sebhorrea in dogs which is what this sound like in yours: https://vcahospitals.com/know-your-p...orrhea-in-dogs |
Well the link you shared has some similarities but he doesn’t itch or have inflamed areas. The rescue checked for parasites and mange and he was cleared of those things. I am putting fish oil on his food and using the shampoo they gave. Hopefully my vet can shed more light on this. He doesn’t seem to be bothered by it I just don’t want it to become something that gets worse for him. |

Flaky skin Alot of times it's the food. I went to a dog dermatologist who told me to feed venison. That worked! Plus use Hylyte shampoo and the conditioner. Can get it from chewy.com Hope this helps! Oh a toothpaste from chewy that my dogs love is the Vanilla mint by CET. My yorkies love to brush teeth! |

Skin My friends yorkie had dry flaky skin. Vet tested and found out she is allergic to chicken. I really believe some dogs foods cause skin issues. I would check foods before medication |
