My max was a picky eater since day one too (6yrs). It was a mission just to get him use to kibbles. At some point I was home cooking just for him, but that was becoming way too expensive for me to keep up. Max had several allergic reactions to different ingredients so be careful when switching and keep an eye out for any reactions. Canidae was one I kept him away from, he had a really bad allergic reaction to that brand.


Up until a month ago, I had him on wellness complete health turkey and oatmeal recipe for about 3 years. Unfortunately, I began to notice that he was licking his paws way too much so I switched over to Hills Science diet sensitive stomach & skin small bites. Let me tell youuu that as soon as I put the bowl down the first day, he dogged that food, I couldn't believe it. Ever since I switched him, I find myself refilling his food bowl more then I did before Lol Im Hoping this one is a keeper! 🤞🏻 Gooodluckk !!

Teddy is a cutie. Our Bella is almost 3 years old and she's a picky eater as well. She was licking her paws a lot so I thought she might be allergic to chicken. I decided to change her from RC over to First Mate Small Bites Australian Lamb Meal, Limited Ingredients. She really liked it and ate regularly. However she's still a picky eater, even though I free feed her. Later I added a food topper, Pure bites, Lamb. She liked the food topper more than the kibbles. I had to entice her (like showing her the food topper food first as if it's a treat and drop pieces into her kibbles), to eat both at the same time. Yes I agree, it's frustrating that our yorkies can be such picky eaters, sigh, lol. Hope this helps!

I was looking at Hill Science Sensitive Stomach and skin before. Just wondering did Max reduce his licking of the paws? Maybe another time later on, I may try it on Bella. Thank you for sharing!

It did reduce his licking for the first couple weeks, however, i caught him licking his paws again this week. He's not licking as often as before but Im keeping an eye on it. If it persist, I may have to look into something new. 😔😩

Most allergies are due to environment, not food. I have a pup who licks her paws....I take her to the vet for Cytopoint injections when it gets to be a bit crazy. I gave up long ago looking for causes...most of them are allergic to grasses which are impossible to avoid and I don't like the serum injections they offer. I found those to be a pain and not that successful. Cytopoint does not have any issues like some of the other allergy meds and is safe. Most of the time I can keep her ok by using wipes when she has been outside and putting ketoseb mousse on 3x/week per the vet. She ends up needing the Cytopoint about every 2 - 3 months.

:thumbup::thumbup: Penny was licking her paws badly and she had a cytopoint shot in September and hasn’t needed another yet. I love cytopoint and would not hesitate to get if for her again if she needs it which I think might happen this spring. It worked great for Callie too and was very safe with all her health issues.

I have two yorkies. Koa is going on 13 and Baxter is going on 6 yrs. old. Both have medical issues. Koa needs gastrointestinal food and Baxter has stones and need UA type food. I am wanting to try freeze dried foods on them both but worry about the issues. They are both on Royal Canin now. Do you have any suggestions on the food?

If they both require medical diets you need to talk to your vet about any switching you want to do because it might cause big health issues to switch them off of those foods.

The turkey and pumpkin pate is for adult dogs. I add a.ittle warm water and my yor,is love it.
I really like the Fromm dog food!

My Yorkie is so picky. She loves Royal canin adult breed specific loaf in sauce. However, you can’t find it anywhere. I’ve tried giving her other brands in wet dogfood but she will not eat any of them. It must have something to do with the smell because she will not even try them. Does anybody have any suggestions?

I have tried her on royal canin 5.3 oz can but she wouldn’t have it either. I will get a single can of that and try. She is only 3.5 lbs so I usually try her on small cans. Just bought 12 small cans of Bella- she will have none of it.

Another food to try but you would need to speak with your vet about it is the RC Gastro Low Fat. I have pups on it and they love it. LOL I have a few pups...my own and my fosters, so go through a lot of different food.

You can't buy just one can from Chewy and I don't know if Petsmart sells it by the can.. I would be happy to send you one if your vet does not have it. But, again, you should ask your vet if it is ok to give low fat to yours.
