MVD Mitral Valve Insufficiency 1 Attachment(s) Mickey has just come from the vet and she said he needs to see a Cardiologist. He has canine mitral valve insufficiency. His number is 5-6/6 on the scale. Called and waiting for them to call back to schedule an appointment. Anyone else been through this? I am freaking out! He is 10 years old now. I got him from Breny here on YT. He is the love of my life. :aimeeyork |
PS... I wanted to add this is NOT Breny's fault in any way. MVD is a known health issue with Yorkies. Like bad teeth. I would buy from her again. :aimeeyork |

I don’t have any experience with this, but I know it’s the most common form of canine heart disease. Canine heart disease usually develops slowly, so one important question is whether your baby has symptoms or whether the heart murmur was found during a routine exam. Thanks! It was found during routine exam. No symptoms yet. He has one of those Senior dog papillomas on his thigh that he won’t stop going after and chewing even after month with cone on and off. She said it needs to come off but Cardiologist first. Appointment August 17 is first they have. |

Jackson was "diagnosed" in 2017 with: - mild increase in right and left ventricular outflow tract velocity (innocent cause for soft heart murmur) - trace tricuspid regurgitation - normal heart size and function. - No medications. He's had no increases or symptoms etc and is still doing super well at 11 years old. Prayers for Mickey! |
