Best Yorkie Food on The Market
 

Hi,
I have 3 years old 3.5KG male Yorkie. I am using Royal Canin Yorkshire dry+wet food combination so far but I heard some negative feedbacks about RC and I did some research online about other brands like Orijen, Merrick etc but still I couldn't decide.

Can you recommend me best Yorkie dog food on the market right now? The budget is not a problem.

* He doesn't have any allergies.

Yorkies are very picky eaters, if your baby likes RC I would keep him on it. It's hard to say what is the best food, like humans, what one person loves another will not, same goes for these quirky lil imps.

I agree with Joan. This is one of those questions that has many correct answers. The only advice I would give is to stay away from anything made in China.

He is actually eating every food brand :) But my concern is about RC. Is it a good/best brand for health? or are there any other brands considered better for their healths?

Royal Canin is an excellent brand they actually put science in their food. The brands you listed were all on the list of foods to avoid because they were causing heart issues. The ingredients that our dogs need are much different then what we as humans need. Many vet nutritionist recommended Royal Canin. It really is a great food. It is also a safe food.

I just looked at the ingredients for yorkies in the royal canin dry food. Brewers rice and corn. ... why not a meat first. I'm looking for a good food. I ha e Lotus for seniors. It has 18% protein and 9% fat. Not sure if that's ok. Scared to try royal canin Cruz of the ingredients. What do you think? Best food?

Royal Canin has science behind all of their recipes. The ingredients good for you or I is not necessarily what’s good for dogs. They are not humans and digest differently then humans.

Royal Canin is a reputable company! Be careful about what you read on the internet. There are so many self proclaimed experts...all bashing ingredients . ANSWER: It is hard to know who to trust and no one company is perfect all the time - in any sector of the market.
However, I would have no immediate concerns if feeding a Royal Canin or Purina product.
I feed several different Purina products to my dogs. I have been to the Royal Canin facilities and manufacturing plants ... and am confident they are doing the very best job possible.
Not to say mistakes won't happen – the recent Hill’s recall is a very good reminder, that even the best of the best companies can make a mistake. But when they do, they own up to it, try to make it right and fix the problem.
Small companies, although may be attractive b/c they are small and ‘personal’ are a far greater of a risk in my opinion.

I'm going back to Lifes Abundance. My yorkies were doing real well on this food. Vet said go to a senior diet. I chose lotus. Stools are mushy. There's calcium propionate in it. Just not convinced 18% protein and 9 % fat is ok. Lifes Abundance has a good reputation.
High standards. Healthy ingredients.
