Chronic Kidney changes. Chewie was finally diagnosed today with IBD. When they did the U/S because of how sick she was, they told me there were changes, chronic, to the kidneys. They told me that her numbers were fine, he wasn't saying she had kidney disease. I'm in shock, devastated, and I don't understand any of this. She's so young. I don't understand this at all. Our vet office is closed. I called him back and he assured me she was young and her blood levels were beautiful. Dan told me this was a blessing because we might not have caught it so early. I hope any one has any advice. Anything. |
So sorry. Will keep you in my thoughts! |
I am sorry to hear this. Thumper as well had a similar Kidney issue on the ultrasound. He now gets them yearly to keep watch it. He also was switched to K/D Diet which helps slow the disease down. There is also an early detection test called SDMA that can be done in-house that Thumper gets twice a year. It is an early indication of kidney disease. So far his kidneys are stable despite him having other issues. I think changing his diet and monitoring helped. Hopefully, Chewie only needs to be monitored at the moment. |
