Allergy treatment We have started giving our Brinkley allergy shots after having him tested at MSU. However, after a couple of months of struggling, we feel as though we can't continue the unpleasant battle to give him shots - not good for us or him! Has anyone used the alternative of sublingual immunotherapy instead of shots? |
Was your baby getting Cytopoint shots? exactly why did you stop. |
No, we had MSU Vet Center run a full dermatology test that resulted in them confirming what weeds and things - not food - that he was allergic to. Then they create a prescription that actually injects the allergens and over a few months, he will become immune to them, hopefully. No, we don't want to give him cytopoint or apoquel long term - they suppress his immune system and that is not good. |
We have only given our baby Apoquel sparingly - it is not good - suppresses the immune system too much. |
Ok, I understand, thank you for the explanation, makes it clearer for other members. I have not used sublingual immunotherapy, so no help here but, I would check with your vet before using this. |
This is what I actually do as a human. I have to get three shots every week and eventually every 2 weeks and then it spaces out even more. I am not a fan of apoqul. Cytopoint is a very very different drug that does not suppress the immune system and it doesn’t filter through the liver so it is very safe. I personally would try it especially if it comes to making your dogs life better. |
