BUN/UREA level a bit high Hello I took Nova for her spay procedure today and her blood test showed BUN level of 10.1. Max should be 9.6 so the vet decided to hold off with the procedure. Does anyone here experienced that with their puppy and what was the outcome? Many thanks |
It is a kidney function test. It can mean something Serious is going on or it could Be as simple as stress or dehydration. Had you fasted her before the blood work? Does he plan on retesting? Was everything else normal? |
Yes she was fasted . My vet suggested to test her blood again in a week and to take two urine samples. Nova seems healthy, eating, playing. The level is really just a bit high. |
Her normal could be a bit higher or stress or dehydration so it could be just fine. Let us know how the retesting goes. |
My vet has always told me a slightly high BUN level is usually nothing to fret over if the dog is otherwise healthy. Like Taylor said, could just be stress or dehydration etc. |
