Happy New year everyone :)

Have anyone used or using VetriScience Composure calming tablets or PetNaturals of Vermont Calming Support? Those are the only two products available here with descent ingredients and the internet reviews seem good. Will ask my vet for her opinion before starting, but just wanted to see if anybody tried it before.

Mike has recently slightly rolled back with our separation anxiety progress, and he is still very anxious in the car, despite my never ending efforts to desensitize him of car rides. We are also planning to move soon and he is usually stressed when the environment changes, so I'm just looking for a natural based something that can be given daily during stressful times and long car rides.

We tried valerian root pills for dogs and they do nothing for him.

We use the VetriScience calming chews for all three of our dogs. Wouldn't be without them! They help with everything from separation anxiety to pre-dosing for vet visits and all-day car trips from Florida to upstate NY and back. Also frequent thunderstorms and fireworks here in the Orlando area. Amazon has a good price, and we have them delivered on a bi-monthly subscription order which further reduces the price.

Our vet approved them, and they do not bother Tyrone who is prone to colitis attacks from many treats/meds.

Good luck, I hope they work for you to help "take the edge off" when needed. We are having a big party next week, and everyone will be getting their chews!

Do they make them groggy or anything like that?

No, they do not make them groggy (although they did make them sleepy the first few times we used them). The dose for the ones we use is up to three per day. We usually give just one to make them less jumpy, but if we have to go out and know that thunderstorms are predicted for instance, we increase the dose to two. Beau, at thirteen, only gets one since he is so much more laid back at his age. If we are on a full-day road trip, we give two to the younger yorkies when we start the day, and they ride calmly and/or sleep. We give them a third dose when we are settling in the motel so that they do not stress out over guests who slam doors, etc. during the night.

Thanks. I might try some with Joey because he gets over excited in the car and at pet events. Ollie also because he gets nervous leaving the house.

The best part is that Tyrone remains calm during long car trips, and has gotten over the colitis attacks that used to follow our coastal trips home to family. When he was younger the stress always caused stomach issues requiring vet appointments!

This is exactly why I need it. We went on a short trip recently and oh I wish I would have these chews to give Mike. He got himself all wound up on the road and when we arrived to hotel all sounds, door slamming, people, us going back and forth to the car to get our staff was just too much for him he was panicking until we went to sleep. On day 2 he was back to normal, but on day 1 I wish I would have something to give him to take the egde off. I just hate seeing him so stressed.

With all three on our trips to visit family, they feed off each other...if one gets stressed out, they all join in! Gus tends to be the one who is more on alert from doors slamming and conversations in the hallways at hotels, but with these pills (and getting beyond puppyhood) we can sleep thru the nights with no outbursts.

I really like Vetriscience and we have used the Composure before. I think it does help a bit but I find it only works for low-stress events.

Our order arrived yesterday, Mike went crazy for the smell :D I'm going to give it to him daily for sometime to see if it will help him when he is home alone. Our vet also approved it. Thank you so much for your replies!
