Nutritional Supplement My daughter has an 11 year old yorkie that recently had extensive dental work done. It left her with no teeth and a piece of her jaw missing. She weighs about 3 1/2 lbs. IMO I think she's too skinny but otherwise healthy. She's doing a good job of figuring out how to lick up her food (canned pate) but I still think she needs an additional supplement. What can she give her? |
With Callie being 12 I added in a senior vitamin. I get it from Petsmart its by GNC but unless you crunch it up I'm not sure a toothless dog could it it. I saw some good changes in Callie after getting it for a week. Sometimes our older babies need a little more to help with their aging. |
You might ask your Vet for recommendations. |
She could feed her a better high quality dry food moistened/softened with water. She could add a bit more food to each feeding, increase the number of feedings each day, and/or add more treats daily until the target weight is reached. There is a prescription diet for animals recovering from surgery. |
