Dental care My yorkie would never let me brush her teeth, so I always gave her dentastix and occasional bones, also kibble instead of wet food. She is now 8 years old and has tartar buildup. I've put it off for this long as I've been terrified of having her anesthetized. I'm in the Winchester VA area, but live close to Hampshire Co WV as well. Could someone please give me the name of a good vet and also a ballpark idea of the cost, including if there is a need for extraction? Thank you. |
Anesthesia is really safe if the proper protocols are followed and pre surgery blood work. A lot of time teeth are a genetic thing. Prices varies by location here is normally $500-$800. Your regular vet should be able to do it. |
When looking for a vet, I always recommend this website. If a hospital is accredited, you can be assured they are using proper protocols.... https://www.aaha.org/ There is a hospital locator on the site. |
I live in NYC so prices are very high but the average cost for dental and blood works are anywhere from $1,000-$1,500 I recently paid $1,300 for Thumper with 7 extractions |

Baseline dentals here, which include xrays are about 550, ... once there are extractions it adds up quickly |
